So, in less than 48 hours I’m taking a group of 24 high school juniors to Belize for a week…. After having a house full of 6th & 7th graders the last two nights for my sun’s birthday adventures, and “graduating” 13 seniors tonight for Scholar Day.

Recently, an elder and retired teacher, asked me, “why would a wonderful educator like yourself leave the classroom when so many youth need you?”

I respectfully responded, “Auntie, my classroom is everywhere and sadly, ain’t much learning going on in Amerikkkan Public Schools.”

The fact that even today with it being the first day of BHM, we didn’t even have to talk about it or make a big deal of it in class because BHM is an every day reality on our campus brings me so much joy.
