Interested in Tear of the Kingdom but figured "Ill get to it when I get to it." But after the Direct I am ridiculously excited. Nintendo managed to convince to change my mind on Open Worlds being mostly a negative, and I am already on board for them to change my mind on Crafting.
I keep meaning to do a blog post about how branches on GPUs are Perfectly Fine. But fortunately Jason Booth did a much better one than I could have:

Unreal Programmers:
Did you know you can VERY easily expose your C++ code to Python? The same magic that exposes functions to Blueprint ALSO exposes them to Python.
TArray becomes a python list, TMaps become dicts.
Let your tech artists automate all the things!
This video made me cry. We poured so much of ourselves into Beast Breaker, and this video goes into detail about EVERYTHING. The gameplay loop, the heart of the story and the characters, the overarching theme, the music… I’m so happy that a summary like this exists.
In case you didn't watch the Japanese direct: An OPEN-WORLD(???) Boku no Natsuyasumi (AKA My Summer Vacation)-like is coming! The art style might not compare, but Kaz Ayabe still directs, so it *will* be good. A 20th-century summer vacation experience for the 21st century.
@bravemule I secretly kind of hope that Nintendo diverges back into both portable and home consoles again so things like that can make more sense but I think the switch was so unbelievably successful I am kind of afraid Nintendo might have a hard time escaping it
My Steam Replay game count was significantly inflated due to tinkering a lot with my Steam Deck but the play time adds up https://t.co/otkTjE7W0a #SteamReplay
I still really need to play Sifu and am currently enjoying what I have played of Patricks Parabox. Splatoon 3 is fun but kind of too familiar. Enjoyed the new Kirby as well.
I feel like I didn't play too many games this year but the games I enjoyed the most this year:
* Tunic
* Signalis
* Perfect Tides
Kind of middling but still enjoyable:
* FFXIV
* Persona 5 Royal
And my biggest disappointments:
* Elden Ring
* God of War Ragnarok
@FreyaHolmer Its been years since Unity released their shader graph and every time I touch it I immediately come back to Amplify. Even if they were at parity with splines, preferences of opinion on tools and workflows drive people to make lateral decisions on their toolsets all the time.
The new feature film from director Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli has been announced! HOW DO YOU LIVE (tentative title) opens in theaters in Japan on July 14, 2023.
I don't know if I need a Death Stranding sequel but I'm interested to see what an iteration on that formula would look like. Its sad but not super surprising that not a lot of game haves taken any worthwhile inspiration from what that game succeeds at.
I’m so confused by this game because some people say the combat doesn’t function and is unusable/too clunky, and some people are playing the game like its Vanquish meets Doom Eternal lmao
