@NYIFANCENTRAL I know to you there is probably no difference - that's a seat not taken - but it's still a seat sold, meaning the Islanders still got something from it. This happened a lot during the first few Brooklyn years for the Nets, that's where I learned about the practice.
@NYIFANCENTRAL I know that. What I'm saying is that someone bought those tickets and probably ended up eating them because they didn't get what they wanted, playing it like a stock. The #isles probably got face regardless, their books are fine because a sale *did* happen.
@NYIFANCENTRAL My model here is the St. Louis Blues. Look at what happened in 06-07, and the attendance curve in the years afterward as the team rebuilt itself (cap%). What the #isles need to do is to carve out a market of its own that would be St. Louis sized. Organic team building will help.
@NYIFANCENTRAL There's also a lot less competition for entertainment dollars - even pro sports dollars - on a nightly basis in Detroit. DO I agree that Islander fans need to show up more than they do? Yes, absolutely! Do I think they simply won't at UBS Arena? I do not agree.
@NYIFANCENTRAL My belief - and clearly we disagree - is that a good team, built organically, in a stable building situation will draw crowds. We have not seen those parameters met...ever.
@NYIFANCENTRAL I see. This really puts it into relief more than your other posts have for me.
I'd say a lot of the fanbase is happy with the arena situation. I honeslty hope this rebuild/retool bares fruit, the Islanders play fast, exciting, winning hockey - in Elmont.
@NYIFANCENTRAL Whether you like it or not, location not withstanding, UBS Arena has the better bones. The cost to put equal quality hockey infrastructure on Barclays Center is prohibitive enough that no one will finance it when UBS was literally just built. Redundant.
@NYIFANCENTRAL No. I literally mean that the Jacobs family would lead, but other owners would follow, in claiming a competitive advantage for NYI because of the altered rink dimensions. NHL TV partners would complain about having to alter their camera angles.
@NYIFANCENTRAL You are openly wishcasting at this point. Nobody says you aren't allowed to do that, but admit it at this point. *You* want this for the Islanders. You think the Islanders *should* want this and the league *should* want this, whether they do or not is up to debate.
@NYIFANCENTRAL No, nevermind, I see the context for this post. You're not making up fake news, it's just more praying to a disinterested god. You will scream and shout until the Islanders are back in Barclays...Which. will. never. happen. Quebec before Brooklyn, I guarantee it.
@NYIFANCENTRAL Oh, and lest you think I'm a troll, I read you. A lot. This post I'm replying to is the worst thing you've ever said about anyone. And I know you can do better, even when saying something dark.

@NYIFANCENTRAL NO. You don't like him because he trashed Barclays Center, praised UBS Arena, and won't trash Long Island fans like you do. Just because he's 180 degrees from your thought process doesn't make him sound like a guy in a bar. That's pure Ad hominem. You are better than this.
@7thWoman@NHL@MLB I rarely use Twitter anymore (accessibility reasons) but I somewhat agree with you here. NHL has started to become very ham-handed with ceremonies. Started with their road Cup presentation in 2016. The worst though was how they handled Stadium Series with us last year.
@DeaceProducer Do you think that the Deace Show will primarily become a Zoom shop, or do you expect the people who used Skype a lot to end up on Teams? Sadly, by default, Teams audio quality is basically Skype. Hopefully more people discover High Fidelity Music Mode.
@metspolice The Wilpons also wouldn't have signed Soto. Quite frankly, that gives Steve a ton of currency with me that the Wilpons simply don't get. I'm curious now...And I'm not asking as a joke. Would you prefer the Wilpons back?
