I can't help but feel inspired by any self-builder who can get the job done on a budget. These 12 homes built for under £150k are some of the best of the best. https://t.co/ObIYjDYmqP
One of the best stories we've featured recently: a 23-year-old first time self builder working on an £80k budget and doing much of the work himself.

An amazing transformation for a magazine specialising in amazing transformations. Well worth checking out a copy of the new look @RealHomes this month when you head out to pick up your copy of @MyHomebuilding. #sorealhomes
In response to the heatwave, a Commons select committee is calling on the govt. to "Protect peoples’ health by changing building regulations to prevent overheating."
We want to know what, if any, changes you think should be made.

@LordsSTCom The govt. now has a 'presumption in favour' of off site development for five key departments (Transport, Health and Social Care, Defence, Justice and Education) which means "All projects should have at least one option that includes the substantial use of off-site manufacture".
The House of Lords Science and Technology Committee (@LordsSTCom) has released a report that argues off site manufacture of buildings can increase construction productivity, reduce labour demands and produce better quality, healthier buildings.
https://t.co/1S86u2PQNL
@LordsSTCom The Committee also recommends: "the Government explore options for the
accreditation of housing built using off-site manufacture, to ensure
that mortgages are available to those who wish to purchase them."
Which could be huge news for self builders.
Hello all self builder/renovator types...
Got a quick question for you. If you could tell/ask new housing minister Kit Malthouse one thing, what would it be?
So another one bites the dust as we’ve now had 17 Housing Ministers in since 1997.
It’s certainly cause for concern. We need someone to steady the ship, and help young, exciting new people excel in difficult housing sector.
Who do we need...
He wouldn’t... would he? 👀
The housing crisis seems unlikely to be solved when the govt. goes through housing ministers as quickly as Leeds United go through managers. https://t.co/l7pcysSTCD
181 days after he was appointed minister of state for housing, Dominic Raab has replaced David Davis as Brexit secretary.
Whoever takes over from Raab will be the 17th housing minister since 1997.
And people say being England manager is a poisoned chalice!
Surprising stat of the day: sales of bidets are up 44% year-on-year.
What's causing this sudden burst of bidet sales? A rising trend, or just a drop in the pond?
