A BIG update for img2threejs.

It’s been almost 2 months since I launched img2threejs. After a lot of experiments, feedback, and seeing where people struggle, I realized there are some changes we simply have to make if we want this project to go much further.

So here’s what’s changing:

/ 01 / A new ROADMAP: from one pipeline → a plugin-able ecosystem
This is the biggest change. Reconstruction, environments, rigging, animation, VFX/SFX, exporters, providers… shouldn’t be locked inside one giant workflow. The goal is to make img2threejs modular: use what you need, replace what you don’t, build your own workflow, and eventually your own plugins. I believe this is the right foundation for img2threejs to grow from an open-source project into an ecosystem.
Read the new Roadmap → https://t.co/7raUldiOfP

/ 02 / Playground
The simplest way to use img2threejs: upload an image → wait ~10 minutes → get your 3D asset. Export to different 3D formats or directly to pure Three.js code.

/ 03 / Studio
This is for those who want full control. Watch img2threejs build in real time: Nano → Texture → Rigging → Animation → VFX/SFX → Export. Configure, inspect, and control the workflow instead of only receiving the final result.

/ 04 / A new Landing Page
Cleaner, easier, and actually more useful. You’ll be able to copy prompts directly, explore examples, and export assets for Blender or your own workflow. I’m trying to wrap up as much of the annoying work as possible animation, rigging, textures, exporters, so you can focus on building.

/ 05 / Official YouTube
Many of you have asked how these showcases are actually built, and X simply isn’t the right place for a 20–40 minute walkthrough haha. I’ll start sharing full step-by-step workflows, experiments, tutorials, and project updates here:
YouTube → https://t.co/OiBLDJhws6

And one more thing…
Tomorrow at 13:00 UTC - img2threejs × GPT-6 Astra.

A new exclusive showcase is coming. I’ve spent enough time with img2threejs that I thought it was getting difficult to surprise myself anymore, but this one did.
To everyone who tested img2threejs, contributed code, reported bugs, shared feedback, created something with it, sponsored us, became a partner, or simply told me to keep going - thank you, truly.

A lot of what you see in this new direction comes directly from those conversations. We’re still very early, and there’s still a ridiculous amount of work ahead, but I’m really excited about where this is going.
If you’re building in AI, 3D, graphics, or creative tools and this direction makes sense to you, I’d love to connect. Maybe we can build something together haha.

Same vision. Bigger possibilities.

Yeah we have same page. Actually, I'm building something similar to your idea. I'm creating a dev playground that integrates all of the plugins in the img2 ecosystem. The reason I separate it is that not everyone uses all of the skills, instead, they only use one or two, such as interior and character.

A little sneak peek at a game I've been experimenting with! ⚔️

Built using img2 ecosystem: img2threejs + img2character + img2pixi3d + img2environment.

Just a small combat test for now. Still plenty of bugs to fix, but this is only the beginning.

Many more exciting levels and surprises ahead! 👀

[Nick @NickDevFE]

@kinovhacks Wow, that’s beautiful dude, it’s so clean and clear, down to the smallest detail.

img2character is now available as a separate plugin!

I've finished splitting the character workflow out of img2threejs. You can now try it yourself, including character rigging and animation.

I'm also working on a more optimized upgrade, which I plan to release next week. More to come!

Give it a try and let me know what you think.

@cagyjan1 Hey, there! Have you ever played an RPG that is risky and requires a high level of agility and skill on web? 🤪 I'm still working on it, but if you're interested, I'll release it soon for you to test. It's a game I created entirely with img2threejs. https://t.co/foXy0KIxZl

@KrosusC Because he is a robot, his movements look very funny 😆

[Nick @NickDevFE]

@avynsrc Finally, someone noticed. 😆

Another experiment with Three.js!

I’ve been working on turning single character images into editable, rigged, and animated 3D characters using Three.js + TypeScript.

Just released img2character as a standalone open-source plugin.

More realistic characters without GLB references are coming next! 😄

This is really helpful, thank you! 🙏

I've actually been thinking about turning the img2 ecosystem into a proper product, but funding and resources are my biggest bottlenecks right now.

I'll definitely look into these programs. Really appreciate you pointing me in the right direction!

[Nick @NickDevFE]

@_kvnloo Haha, thanks. Please show me the feedback, and give it a star 🙌

Just tested the new MiniMax M3.1 Flash with img2interior! 🔥

One bedroom reference image → a fully editable Three.js scene.

The result genuinely impressed me. Beautiful details, lighting, and an incredibly clean interior.

Really excited to see how far we can push this model with the img2 ecosystem.

Powered by @MiniMax_AI M3.1 Flash × img2interior 🚀

[Nick @NickDevFE]

@techhalla Still cooking for everyone, let try it, man!!

[Nick @NickDevFE]

Yes, absolutely! 😄

That’s actually what we’re working toward with the img2 ecosystem.

For rooms and interiors, we have img2interior. For larger scenes like landscapes, buildings, and outdoor environments, we have img2environment.

The goal is to turn reference images into real, editable Three.js scenes with controllable cameras, not just static images or AI-generated videos.

What kind of scenes does your template app mainly work with? I’d love to understand your use case better!

[Nick @NickDevFE]

So cool to see img2threejs ranked #1! 🙌 Huge thanks for the recognition!

We’re also expanding the ecosystem with img2interior and img2character. More exciting things ahead!

Yes, img2character already supports multi-image input, so extra angles definitely help a lot for keeping proportions and preserving tricky details like ears, tails, and glowing parts.

A single reference can still work, but for non-human characters, front + 3/4 views usually give much more stable results.

I’m currently updating img2character again, and an upgraded version should be released soon 🙌

[Nick @NickDevFE]

@avynsrc Haha, hopefully a good kind of disturbance! 😂

I see it more as a way to help designers bring their ideas to life faster, not replace their creativity. There’s still a lot that human expertise brings to the table!

[Nick @NickDevFE]

@hakimieiqbal Honestly, img2character and img2environment! 😄

I’m really excited about bringing everything together: characters, environments, animations, and interactions, all from reference images.

The goal is to go beyond generating 3D assets and actually build interactive worlds.

[Nick @NickDevFE]

Thanks so much for featuring img2threejs at #1! Really appreciate the support! 🙌

We’ve also been expanding the ecosystem with a few new plugins:

/1/ img2interior – Turn a single room image into a fully editable 3D interior scene.

/2/ img2character – Bring character references to life as 3D characters.

Both are part of our growing open-source img2 ecosystem. Lots more coming soon!

@OscarLai If you try it with Claude, it's even better than my results, Hopefully this surprises you =))
