• Dozens that died from colic or illness
• Several horses that died from freak accidents such as traveling or swimming
• and several listed as ‘unidentified’

The rate of fatality in Victoria, which RV transparently publish in their Annual Report (unlike some other states)… is 0.5/1000 starts, so 99.95% of racing is completed safely.

We’d all love it to be zero and hundreds of millions is being spend globally on equine safety research for this exact reason.
