Dear BJP,

These were your unconditional foot soldiers, the bedrock of your movement. For decades, they carried the flag of Hindutva and stood firmly behind you at the ballot box, asking for little in return except the protection and dignity of the civilization.

They made conscious compromises with reservations and the harsh realities of the Atrocities Act, suppressing their own grievances for what they believed was a grander purpose: the consolidation and unification of Hindu society. But instead of delivering that unity, you fell into the comfortable rut of identity-driven social engineering and competitive appeasement.

The crowd on the streets may number in the thousands, but the resentment is shared by millions. Do not mistake loyalty for subservience, and do not treat your most reliable supporters like disposable political collateral. Listen to them, address their grievances, and afford them the equal dignity they deserve before their alienation becomes permanent.

People who became politically literate only after 2014 should be reminded of the fact that back in 1990 when VP Singh implemented Mandal commission recommendation and brought quota raj to the Gangetic belt and rest of India , BJP was supporting the ruling coalition. A mere threat of taking back support would have prevented this rot. And post 2014 introduction of OBC and EWS reservation in higher education in pan India institutions was Modi’s brain child.
