@DatDudeCP50 Yeah, clearly you don’t look or else you would’ve seen the literal hundreds of research articles of supporting data. Start here and feel free to share your critiques:

I’m not saying it was the correct response, but with George Floyd being killed once he got out of his car, Breonna Taylor being killed before she even had a chance to comply, and the systemic/individual biases that result in people of color being 2.4X more likely to be killed in
Footage from body-worn camera shows a pregnant woman asking police, “What, are you going to shoot me?” seconds before an officer fatally shot her outside a grocery store. https://t.co/uNuBMznt7v
A 13% increase in homicides from 2021 to 2022; only 4% total of 2023 so far attributed to gang violence and 3% in self-defense. Right around the same 12% average for Every. State. That. Loosen. Gun. Carry. Laws. In. The. Last. 50. Years.

@DatDudeCP50 Not at all; there’s the larger systems at work that keep Americans of color in under resourced red lined districts and excluded from the same degree of economic mobility, but also the more immediate issues of implicit bias and systemic lack of accountability for police that

@DispatchAlerts It’s as the author says: there’s a lot of misinformation and uncertainty going around trans athletes and HRT, but the research is overwhelmingly supportive of HRT reducing trans women muscle mass/gain, bone density, and even oxygen exchange to levels that are physiologically
@DispatchAlerts It would help to have implicit bias, conflict de-escalation, and trauma-informed interviewing skills that might have prevented this:

@HamsterMagic03 @DispatchAlerts involvement), then it is within the best interests of the community to mitigate the damage these impulses manifest as (at least while longer term solutions to systemic barriers are fixed). One of these most effective evidence-based mitigation strategies include safe gun storage.
@HamsterMagic03 @DispatchAlerts of the limbic “this is going to feel really good” outpacing the prefrontal “but there will be consequences” part of the brains. Parents can only monitor kids so much (especially in communities with higher rates of both parents working and other systemic barriers to parental
@reseacher2022@DispatchAlerts And speeding laws don’t stop everyone from speeding, but enough people follow the law to save thousands of lives.
Again data>anecdotes

@reseacher2022@DispatchAlerts And he was held accountable for it.
Anecdotes are also worth less than Trump bucks; the statewide data shows that enough people follow the laws to prevent the 15% increase in gun homicides seen when states (Ohio included) loosen their gun laws.
@HamsterMagic03 @DispatchAlerts loosest gun laws rather than the costal metropolises with strict gun laws. Safe storage laws from law abiding gun owners can reduce youth access to guns by >80%.

@HamsterMagic03 @DispatchAlerts That’s my point exactly, only 17.3% of the guns used to youth shootings have been purposely trafficked, leaving over 80% of the guns used introduced into circulation by theft of an unsecured gun, with a disproportionate number of these thefts occurring in the Deep South with the
crimes themselves rather than risk police mistaking the victim for the criminal. It’s still wrong that this is the different reality Americans of color deal with, but the response is perfectly understandable until systems change prevent these encounters.

Police responses like these are the reason communities of color don’t trust the police. Petty crimes are less likely to be reported if police involvement risks a kid getting killed over shoplifting. Members are more likely to arm themselves and respond to
