This is the inevitable problem with women in gaming and it's a topic that ppl try to shy away from discussing. Women should never be writing in game development. The first question worth asking is why didn't they just create a new game with a new female character?

Well Sony already tried this Horizon Zero Dawn and despite their efforts to promote it, the game has not become the cultural hit they hoped it would. This stems from the belief that men and women want the same things in a game protagonist, but they don't. Men look to other patriarchal figures for virtues, and that makes sense right - Bravery, stoicism, honor and duty are male traits. Men typically have the same lived experience and so you will relate to a male protagonist more so than a female. There is nothing for a female heroine to teach the male audience and the story will be told through a feminine lens that he can't relate to, particularly in role playing franchise where you have to embody the character and their decisions.

The second thing to note is that women will always try to insert themselves in the story, whether in terms of physical appearance or psychologically. Now this is a human thing but the difference between men and women here is, men will construct a character that is beyond him... someone to strive to be, whereas women will just write themselves because they don't believe they're flawed. "I'm perfect as I am so why shouldn't the character just be me."

Understanding these two fundamental ideas is key to understanding why only men should be writing these stories. And it's not just video games, if you look at the state of publishing you'll see this feminine agenda started there. It's now entirely self insert fantasy fiction with Twilight and Morning Glory Milking Farm. We've lost a generation of male storytellers who would have elevated literature but they were pushed out due to inclusivity quotas. The same will happen to gaming
