One Nation is the local arm of a globalised dark money network, promoting fascism and division across the world. The Greens are here to fight them every step of the way.
The Labor and Liberal Party are colluding with the mendicant forestry industry by destroying nature, emitting massive amounts of carbon and bleeding the Tasmanian and Australian tax payers through public subsidies.
It is time to end native forest logging.
Backbenchers are increasingly worried about cutting essential services needed by 241k people, but parts of the Coalition still sees it as a political football.
@AngusTaylorMP and @MGrahMcIntosh need to answer: do you actually care about disabled people? Or is this just a stunt?
The cynicism of the Liberals' stance on NDIS is on full display today.
Angus Taylor is trying to rush through cuts for 241,000 disabled people at the same time as his MPs are voicing concerns that they're unacceptable and will kill people.
Do they actually believe in anything?
Labor’s proposed cuts to the NDIS represent one of the most serious attacks on the rights, independence and dignity of disabled Australians in recent memory.
The Greens will do everything we can to stop this bill.
The federal government needs to stop passing the buck to the states and use its powers to end native forest logging in Australia.
Native forests are too important to keep sacrificing for an industry that is environmentally destructive and financially dependent on public money.
Labor and the Liberals are colluding to plunder Tasmania’s native forests, ship logs across Bass Strait and saw them in Victorian mills, with public subsidies propping up every step of the way.
It is absurd for the Tasmanian Freight Equalisation Scheme to be subsidising the movement of Tasmanian logs into Victorian mills, and this loophole must be closed.
We already know what the solutions are - making polluters pay, protecting forests, and keeping coal and gas in the ground. The climate crisis isn't just coming. It's already here.
The Bureau of Meteorology has declared an El Niño, and Tasmania has just recorded its warmest May on record. This is what climate breakdown looks like. Not in some distant future. Right now.
Climate breakdown is a story about inequality. A tiny number of corporations and billionaires get rich from pollution, and buy off politicians to keep it this way. The other 99% of us wear the costs.
Governments should be working together to protect native forests, not conspiring to destroy them.
Native forest logging needs to end, and it needs to end now.
Yesterday we learned that Labor and the Liberals are working on a bilateral agreement to approve Tasmanian logging operations. This is being done before the relevant environmental standards have even been finalised.
This is totally unacceptable.
We haven’t even seen some of the standards in draft form. Those we have seen are woefully inadequate.
Labor and Liberal governments in Tasmania have spent years rubber-stamping forest destruction, and simply can’t be trusted to look after our precious native forests.
Can you believe this? Labor is handing over tens of millions of dollars from an emissions reduction fund to help a Tasmanian cement plant burn native forests.
This will lock in ongoing destruction of nature and massive greenhouse gas emissions from industrial logging.
It’s yet another lifeline for the native forest logging industry, which cannot survive without massive taxpayer subsidies.
