If people were sacramentally married, prayed daily, avoided sin, forgave others, and went to church on Sundays with their families, then society would be much better and there would be less depression, adultery, divorce, and hatred.

I found this bit today between @RealMattFradd and Peter Kreeft profoundly moving (Kreeft’s wife of 60+ years recently died).

In 2009, Tim Tebow wrote “John 3,16” under his eyes during the National Championship Game. 94 million people searched the verse that night.
Exactly three years later to the day, Tebow played his first NFL playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He threw for 316 yards. His yards per completion were 31.6. The TV rating peaked at 31.6. The opponent’s time of possession was 31 06. The only interception in the game was thrown on 3rd and 16. The game was played exactly 316 weeks after Tebow declared he would play college football for the University of Florida.
Six different statistics. All pointing to the same verse. On the same date. Three years apart.

In his talk titled "Quo Vadis America," the archbishop explains what true patriotism means and how America’s Founding Fathers defined the United States’ liberties.
He also describes the chaos occurring in today's world.
“Patriotism is a virtue that was allied to the old virtue of the Greeks and Latin called ‘Pietas.’ 'Pietas' meant love of God, love of neighbor, love of country. And when one goes out, all go out.
“[When] we no longer have love of God, we no longer have love of country.”
Soon-to-be Blessed Fulton Sheen then explains his investigation of “the problem of revolution.”
“We started our country with a revolution. Revolution is in the air today. As a matter of fact, the revolutionists of our day are all arguing and contending that, ‘well we started that way, therefore we should continue it.’
"Let us investigate this question: namely, we do live in America, in a revolutionary tradition, certainly. But the question is, what kind of a revolution should we have?"
Ven. Fulton Sheen then tells the story of a Catholic soldier fighting at Concord, who said he went for one reason: “In order that we might govern ourselves.”
“That was the American Revolution–to govern ourselves,” Sheen says.
“Now, what’s the Revolution of today? What’s its nature? Violence. Violence just for the sake of violence…I mean, the new type of revolt that is destruction of everything that is in the past.
"And these people who are actuating violence today claim they are in line with the American Revolution. They are not!”

THE GREATEST MIRACLE AT EVERY MASS IS THE ONE MOST PEOPLE NEVER SEE
If every Catholic could see the altar the way Heaven sees it, our churches would never be empty.
Many Catholics know that the Eucharist is the Body and Blood of Christ.
Far fewer understand what is actually happening at every Mass.
The Mass is not a religious performance.
It is not merely a memorial.
It is not simply a gathering of believers.
The Mass is Calvary made sacramentally present.
Notice what the Church does not say.
She does not teach that Christ is sacrificed again.
Hebrews makes it clear that Christ died once for all (Hebrews 10:10).
Instead, the one sacrifice of Calvary is made present across time without being repeated.
This is difficult because we think in terms of clocks.
God does not.
Jesus Christ is the eternal High Priest.
His sacrifice is eternally present before the Father.
At every Mass, we are not bringing Jesus back to the Cross.
We are being brought to His one eternal sacrifice.
That is why the priest says,
“Pray, brethren, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God.”
Not because there are many sacrifices.
But because we are entering the one sacrifice that saves the world.
This explains something many Catholics have never considered.
The altar is not simply a table.
It is also an altar of sacrifice.
The priest is not merely a preacher.
He acts in persona Christi, in the Person of Christ, offering the same sacrifice that Christ offered once on Calvary.
This is why incense is used.
This is why sacred vessels are treated with such reverence.
This is why the sanctuary is different from the rest of the church.
Everything points toward the Lamb.
The Book of Revelation gives us another remarkable insight.
When St. John is taken into Heaven, he does not see endless activity without order.
He sees an altar.
He sees priests.
He sees incense rising before God.
He hears hymns.
He witnesses the Lamb standing as though slain (Revelation 5:6).
The Lamb bears the marks of sacrifice, yet He lives forever.
Heaven itself is centered upon the eternal offering of Christ.
The earthly Mass is not an imitation of Heaven.
It is our participation in Heaven's worship.
This is why the Church has always understood the liturgy to be far more than human prayer.
During the Preface, the priest proclaims,
“And so, with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominions...”
This is not poetic language.
The Church means exactly what she says.
The angels are worshipping with us.
The saints are worshipping with us.
The Blessed Virgin Mary is worshipping with us.
The Church on earth and the Church in Heaven are united around one altar and one Lord.
Now consider what happens at Holy Communion.
The God whom the universe cannot contain chooses to dwell within you.
For a few precious minutes after receiving Holy Communion, the Eucharistic Presence remains sacramentally within you before the appearances of bread are fully dissolved.
The saints treasured these moments.
St. Teresa of Ávila advised remaining recollected because the Divine Guest is truly present.
St. Padre Pio often spent long periods in silent thanksgiving after Mass.
Many saints believed that these moments of thanksgiving were among the most spiritually fruitful of the entire day.
Yet how often do we rush out of church?
How often do we begin checking our phones before thanking the Lord who has just entered our souls?
These are all common sense!
