NEW: California Gov. @GavinNewsom@CAgovernor will sign an executive order directing state transportation agencies to accelerate local transit and passenger rail projects across California.
The order, per Newsom’s team, aims to streamline project delivery, reduce bureaucratic delays for local agencies building bus stops, signage, and transit lanes, expand bus rapid transit and bus-only lanes, and increase bus and rail connections.
The order will also launch real-time public dashboards tracking all transit grant programs, application volumes, and timelines.
Newsom is expected to sign this later today.
Absolutely terrible. The biggest tax hike in decades, and 100% of the revenue would go to (often wealthy) retirees so that they can keep collecting more than they paid in.
Oh, and it keeps Social Security out of deficit for just 4 years. What happened to the Republican party?
A part of California’s budget this upcoming year will likely increase the cost of living in this state.
Two new taxes are expected to hit many, and appear to be pretty much a done deal:

Thursday thoughts from US Open
- It was obviously very windy. It was +- 20-25 yds depending on direction. Hit a drive 250 multiple times haha
-Felt like today was the battle of the misses. You were gonna get punished if you missed it in the wrong place.
Let’s get to my round
On the November ballot in California: intergenerational fights between Democrats.
In addition to Rep. Doris Matsui (81), who will be running against Mai Vang (41) in the Sacramento area, it looks like Rep. Mike Thompson (75) may be facing Eric Jones (35) in Napa County.
@RobStutzman@XavierBecerra@TomSteyer Becerra’s approach presents real opportunity for legislature to reassert itself as coequal branch. I expect they’ll take it.
MOMENTS AGO: @J_Gallagher4CA (R-East Nicolaus) was sworn in by Speaker @MikeJohnson as the newest member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
The former California Assembly Minority Leader succeeds the late Rep. Doug LaMalfa for the remainder of the term representing California's 1st Congressional District.
I am honored to step into the role of my friend and mentor, the late Congressman Doug LaMalfa, and excited to get to work for the North State in Congress.
Thank you for the trust you have placed in me.
