Officially the NHS backlog stands at 7.6m, but true scale thought to be much higher.
That’s because patients needing ongoing care are not automatically included - even if they face major delays.
@BBCNews has been looking at these hidden waits 👇 https://t.co/X9xiVAHsFE
These are the number of patients waiting over 12 hours for a bed after being seen in A&E. Basically these waits should not happen – and a decade ago they were rare.
But this December and January, as well as last December and January, the numbers nearly hit 100 K.
The pressures on the NHS this winter have not received as much attention as last winter – but on many measures the scale of the delays are similar. https://t.co/k5OGC6kG6J
Here is what has been happening over the last five years. Achieving aim depends on enticing dentists back from private work – which still remains much more lucrative.
Government has unveiled dental plan for England. But how ambitious is it? Aiming for 1.5 million extra treatments next year – but that won’t even get back to pre-pandemic levels. https://t.co/C9a0ZZ6hbr
Growing skincare use by children is dangerous, say dermatologists. 8 yr old Sadie has a fridge for her skin care, but ended up with itchy/redness when using some of it on her delicate skin. 😳 @annabellimor has been investigating. https://t.co/Z2NZWGFsrK

I’ve never met someone who talks so openly and with humour about his life changing injuries.. Niall speaks about his bowels, bladder and sex. He’s hoping to smash the stigma that can surround it. #spinalcordinjuries Rediscovering life after mountain crash: https://t.co/AeJwtGFsfl
Well worth reading this by @smithamundasad - on what it's really like to live with a spinal injury. Some pretty eye opening details in here from @NiallPMcCann who had an accident speed-flying in the Brecon Beacons in 2016.

Key NHS targets for A&E, cancer and hospital care were established 20 years ago. @BBCNews has been looking at when each was last hit across the UK. For most you have to go back best part of a decade… https://t.co/O6MmcMI4wl
NHS has made more than 20 requests for striking junior doctors in England to be allowed to cross the picket line to help out services. @NHSEngland says it’s a sign of how difficult this walkout is, but @TheBMA believes system being misused https://t.co/4kZjUWOB2A
