Great timing to spend a week in Berlin discussing some of the most pressing issues facing our world and listening to those who are finding solutions
Thank you @lindaunobel@Falling_Walls and @MSCActions for the opportunity
In 2022, global fossil fuel subsidies were $7 trillion or the equivalent of 7.1% of global gross domestic product (GDP).
We effectively PAY oil and gas companies $7trillion every year to create this kind of damage and suffering ....but we can't afford to reduce emissions? 🧐

Scientists on SARDI research vessel have discovered thousands of sleepy Port Jackson sharks blanketing the seafloor in deep (65m+) waters of the Bass Straight. Captured by a ROV, researchers noted that the gathering appeared to be exclusively female.
@IMASUTAS
To think where I was this time last year... thankyou @ISBW15_WSC24 for helping me to find my love for science and seagrass again.
The seagrass research community is inspiring, I am grateful to be a part of it 🙏
Thanks to @MSCActions for the opportunity!
See you next time 🌱🌱
🚨 Postdoc position 🚨
Excited to be recruiting a postdoc to use sedimentary #ancientDNA 🧬 to better understand climate-associated impacts on an Arctic coastal ecosystem

It's been a couple of years in the making but I am finally off to Spain for my @MSCActions postdoc fellowship!
Beyond excited to work with @oserranogras and @ceabcsic to look at long term biodiversity changes in the Mediterranean Sea using #eDNA 🇪🇦
For those looking to learn more about Australian Native #bees, my book is on 20% off and with free shipping from CSIRO until 15th of May with the code
"NATURE24"!
It will help you through the coming winter months 🥲👌

💚Inspiring research by marine scientist Nicole Foster shows that subtidal seagrasses were replaced by intertidal mangroves 1,000 years ago on Torrens Island, South Australia

📢 New paper!
We reconstructed 4000 years of historical vegetation using #eDNA targeted capture and #isotopes.
We found an #ecosystem shift happened 1000 years ago when the #seagrass environment changed to intertidal #mangroves.
Thank you to all who helped get this out there!
Devastated by the scale of the rejection. A chance for Australia to try to make things better for the small but historically marginalised First Nations’ community in our country, all at no cost to the majority. And yet that vast majority have rejected it.
We are so excited that today is the first day of our MarineGEO Network Meeting. 55 partners from around the world are meeting @SmithsonianEnv for the first time since the pandemic. So far we have spent time getting to know one another and hearing from each of our observatories.
Exciting news! My first PhD paper is out in Environmental DNA! 🧬
It provides an accessible way to visualize methodological aspects and understand the current applications of eDNA/eRNA in community ecology! @jordanmcasey@NicoleRFoster@TheCaseyLab
