I think you can teach him those lessons many other ways, and still let him have an ebike with his friends.

@RobinhoodApp My grandparents use to give us grandkids a couple shares in a stock for xmas or bdays. I use to think this certificate saying "I'm the proud owner of 5 shares in $nke or $ko," was pretty boring...
