National Institute of Hydrology (NIH), Hard Rock Regional Centre (HRRC), Belagavi, successfully organized a webinar on the "Open Call for Startups & MSMEs to Develop Innovative Products, Prototypes, and Scalable Solutions for a Sustainable and Water-Secure Future," an initiative launched by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, on 07 July 2026 at 11:00 AM.
The webinar witnessed enthusiastic participation from 42 representatives of startups and MSMEs from across the region. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. B. Venkatesh, Scientist-G and Head, Hard Rock Regional Centre, Belagavi. A detailed introduction to the Open Call initiative was delivered by Mrs. Sushamita Wadde, Scientist-B, who provided a comprehensive overview of the initiative, its objectives, vision, thematic areas, focus areas, and the opportunities available for startups and MSMEs under the Ministry of Jal Shakti. The technical session and live demonstration of the Open Call portal were conducted by Dr. Jyoti Patil,Scientist E . Dr. M. K. Sharma, Scientist-G, and Dr. B. WHRC, NIH Jammu, J&K successfully organized a webinar on “Open Call for Startups and MSMEs” on 7 July 2026 at 3:00 PM. The webinar saw active participation from 35 Startups and MSMEs.
During the webinar, Dr. Riyaz Mir, Scientist-In-Charge, introduced the initiative and gave a brief overview of the open call and the opportunities available under it. Dr. Ishan Sharma, Scientist-B, WHRC Jammu, explained the objectives and importance of the call in detail. He also gave a live demonstration of the Open Calls portal and clearly explained the application process and submission guidelines.
Dr. Nitish Patidar, Scientist-C from NIH Headquarters, highlighted the eligibility criteria and encouraged participants to submit innovative proposals. He also responded to queries raised by the participants and addressed general concerns related to the call.

CFMS, NIH Patna has successfully organized a webinar on "Open Call for Startups and MSMEs" on 7 July 2026 at 3:00 pm, which witnessed the participation of 18 Startups and MSMEs from the jurisdiction of NIH Patna.

RCC meeting of Deltaic Regional Centre, NIH, Kakinada has been conducted on 29.06.2026 at Kakinada through hybrid mode. The Director, NIH, chaired the 35th RCC Meeting. Members from various Central and State departments, research and academic institutions such as CWC-Hyderabad, CGWB-Visakhapatnam, NIOT, NRSC, NGRI, IIT Chennai, Anna University Chennai, APSGWD, AP State Irrigation Dept, Kakinada Municipal Coorporation, Rajahmahendravaram Municipal Corporation and JNTU Kakinada. The progress of ongoing studies and proposed studies were delivered by the Scientists of RC Kakinada. The regional water resources challenges were thoroughly discussed by the members. A total of 37 members and invitees were attended the meeting.
The meeting emphasized collaborative research with Central and State agencies related to coastal area studies.

Contributing to Scientific Dialogue on Climate Resilience and Sustainable Water Resources Management
Dr. Vishal Singh, Scientist-D, delivered a keynote address at the inaugural International Conference on Climate and Disaster Resilient Himalayas (ICCDRH 2026), hosted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi.
His keynote lecture, entitled "Hydro-Climate Linkages and Cryosphere Dynamics in the Himalaya," examined the evolving behavior of Himalayan snow and glaciers, their direct impact on downstream meltwater regimes, and the escalating challenges confronting water security and disaster resilience amid global climate variations.
The conference served as a premier forum for professional exchange among researchers, academicians, practitioners, and policymakers dedicated to advancing climate resilience strategies across the Himalayan region.

Urban Storm Water Flood Management Study of Kakinada smart city, Andhra Pradesh wins SKOCH-2026 Award.
This study is undertaken by the Deltaic Regional Cntre, National Institute of Hydrology, Kakinada for which funds are provided by the Ministry of Jal Shakti Govt., of India. This study was refered by KMC, KAKINADA. The project focused on developing scientific and sustainable solutions for urban stormwater drainage and flood management, contributing to enhanced urban resilience and water-resource planning.
The award-winning study was undertaken by the following team:

• R. Venkata Ramana – Principal Investigator (PI)
