If you flip a coin 9 times, there is an about 0.2% probability of getting heads on every toss.
That’s also how rare it is for a GitHub repo to cross 1,000 stars ⭐ so happy to share here the repo: https://t.co/tAKdMl6KYi
Among all vanity metrics, this one might actually be the most meaningful, if you are building open source.
So I am asking tool builders, open source enthusiasts and software engineers building something on the side:
are you working on something open source? share it below and grow its visibility!
Imagine X wouldn't allow copying and posting the exact same message, and told you that if you are sooooo interested in e.g "what people would do if AI was gone tomorrow", you can go to the original post and engage with the community there..
What would you do then? Would you come up with an original thought to post or would that be too radical?
homer is part of history in the sense that he existed and lived. The same about his works. But the heroes and the stories are not
history. They are fiction, art
And art does not have any obligation to stay loyal to facts, expectations or a single truth. "Science is part of history?" I can't even begint to think what that means. Anyway.
@FlubberBounces@elonmusk Odyssey and all the homer poems are NOT history. Hellen of Troy is also NOT history. History is a science very well and clearly defined.
X is also full of founders whose only posts are "looking to connect with builders" and people asking daily if they prefer mac or windows as if their life dependent on it.
bottom line: same people everywhere. Some lazy posters everywhere. This laziness is sometimes shown in chatgpt content (linkedin) or in repetitive threads on x that are only there to farm followers.
API developers, software engineers and QA testers, what is the most important feature of an API Client today?
I hear a lot about this one: "Not being a bloated mess"
But what does being bloated mean? Which functionalities do you consider bloat in an API tool?
#api#opensource #postman #voiden
This is for: developers , software graduates or vibe coders who are looking for an open source project to contribute to:
I am looking for folks to help me expand the available plugins for @VoidenMD. I have put some of my ideas here:
https://t.co/Gf8L4zsYDc
All ideas welcome, main requirement is to be passionate about API work.
let me know and I can provide more context or DM on discord or here.
X is full of aphorisms about how AI works (or should work), about life, health etc.
What’s wild is they now live as standalone wisdom. Used to be a spark from a bigger concept. Today they are the thing itself.
Short, punchy, and somehow empirically true the moment 10k people like it.
This is my aphorism...
Come up with your own in the comments...
Unpopular opinion about product hunt launches.
Launching on product hunt is like being a part of a dynamic billboard.
Most companies focus on ending as no1 product of the day while the real benefits come from being visible in the top positions for as long as it takes that day or week.
@Unpopular_Tech Yes. Definitely the case that most teams don't really need Postman.
Have you tried other alternatives like @VoidenMD or @YaakApp ? Curious to hear your thoughts.
@gaberoeloffs crazy subject. writing good docs had alway been the no1 thing in a dev tool UX strategy. I think improving the UX for any reason is for the best but it needs to be both for humans and agents (a dev tool should not assume that no human will ever read their docs)
Open source always said 'let everyone contribute.'
Some worry AI is flooding projects with low-quality slop and erasing real authorship, those fears aren't crazy.
Quality and credit still matter. But I tend to agree with @dhh : gatekeeping this 'real/authentic programmer' status could be a form of an insecurity wearing a "quality vigilante" mask.
Let more people in, even if AI helps them. The open source movement wins when it's less exclusive, not more.
#opensource #ai #claude #contributions
"This is a protectionist tale as old as time. And the justifications are just as tired: It's about quality! It's about attribution! It's about workers! Spare me. It's about you, your insecurities, and your privileges." https://t.co/SP6DubrXXh
Postman Free plan is now a team of one.
Meanwhile, #Git still supports unlimited collaborators for $0. And devs are already there.
That's a big reason why @VoidenMD doesn't have a Teams feature.
