Some of the responses to American soldiers being killed today are really rubbing me the wrong way. Saying something sarcastic like "didn't we destroy their military?" feels like you're using their deaths as a gotcha to shit on Trump.

There's a difference between asking a hard question about whether stated war aims match reality and using a death notice as the occasion to score political points. The first is legitimate scrutiny any citizen is owed — not everyone has to agree with the war. The second treats a person who just died in uniform as a prop in an argument they have no part in.

Save the policy argument for a moment that isn't also someone's worst day.

They must be worried. The Iranians have opened up an air corridor through Jordan from the looks of it. We should expect the sort of counter-base attacks we saw in Jordan. Perhaps Ben Gurion.

What is becoming clear is that the Iranian target set is expanding horizontally and vertically. Oman, Yanbu, Jordan are horizontal escalations. The attacks on water desalination in Kuwait is a countervalue vertical escalation. Tonight they’ve promised attacks on Dubai air and sea ports.

I think they will use Khorramshahr for a number of reasons. They are heavier missiles with greater payload (1800kg vs 350kg for the Kheibar Shekan). They have a much longer range (2000km vs 1450km), which allows them to be fired from many more launch sites deeper within Iran. Finally, they are highly accurate with a CEP <= 30m. Importantly, they can also carry 80 submunitions.
