Those who are ridiculing Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi for his post-bail remarks, did you want him to glorify those responsible for his unjust detention after his election was rigged and his people mercilessly executed?
Reports say the U.S. government is pressing Ugandan authorities to free human rights advocate Maria Matembe immediately from military custody. Washington warned that holding her this way signals a decline in democratic values and free expression.
In a statement from the White House, U.S. officials said the Trump Administration and State Department are watching events in Kampala closely. They cautioned that tougher action could follow if the situation doesn’t change. The U.S. also raised alarm over what it called growing assaults on civil liberties, including reported home raids, citizen harassment, and efforts to silence activists who want to take part in politics.
Matembe has become one of Uganda’s loudest government critics in recent years, often speaking on governance, constitutional rule, and human rights. She has repeatedly called out Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, warning against the military’s expanding role in the country’s political life.
Last week, Hon. Miria Matembe sat in front of a camera and did the thing that fewer and fewer people in this country are willing to do anymore. She called out Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
She said he was arrogant, proud, and had no humanity in him. She said he was a nobody, not as an insult, but as a simple fact she explained as follows: when Museveni took power, Muhoozi was a boy of about eleven or twelve. Everything he has ever had, the house, the soldiers, the basement he brags about, belongs to Uganda. He has been on a silver plate throughout. He walked in on a red carpet forty years ago through his father's title, has depended on Uganda's resources ever since, and because he has never lacked, has never suffered, he gained an arrogance that makes him respect nobody.
She also said she was not afraid of him. "How can I fear death," she said, "because death will happen to me whether I like it or not. So there is no way I can fear death." Then she asked the question she clearly intended as a statement: "Why should I sit here in this house and keep quiet?"
Shortly thereafter, Muhoozi sent military men to her house. She was out on her morning walk when they arrived. Her husband answered for her. The men searched through the rooms of a home belonging to a woman who helped write the constitution of this country, found she was not there, and left without a word of explanation to anyone. Her family stood in that house shaking in fear after they were gone. She has not been seen since, and yesterday, the villain in this story confirmed he has her.

From inside the palace: Uganda President Yoweri Museveni's son-in-law Odrek Rwabwogo says he's extremely worried to the core about the direction the country is taking.
Rwabwogo has asked Ugandans to unite and speak out.
He says the army and NRM's vote rigging, bribery, ballot stuffing, shooting of voters in the 2026 general elections and monetisation of the country's politics are a bigger threat to Uganda than foreign invasion, flooding, and earthquake, because now it doesn't pay to be good at what you do and as such, we can't get good leaders, good teachers, good doctors anymore.
If Museveni and his son Gen Muhoozi do not want Ugandans to speak, question or even comment where the Government is wrong, then they should let everything around the people of Uganda work seemless.
This is what made Muhoozi to send UPDF soldiers to close down all NMG UG offices
Muhoozi wants to brand himself as a dictator who doesn't consult anyone. He wants Ugandans to fear that even talking about him could cost an entire family.
The lady who is a senior citizen
And a mentor to the generation
She speaks truth to power and she is honest
We are proud of you mama
Your contribution to this nation is purely appreciated
Gen.@mkainerugaba ’s Caricature-Style Posts On X/Twitter Are Sometimes Seen As A Way Of Provoking His Critics While Hinting At Or Signaling Events That Some People Believe Are Already Being Planned Within The Political System ~ Hon.Dr. @Mbidde 🇺🇬🇺🇬
Back in Nov 2016, after Elwelu led a military raid on the Rwenzururu palace where hundreds of guards and helpers were killed, Andrew Felix Kaweesi(RIP) the then police spokesperson came on TV bragging that, over 41 palace guards have been neutralized(taken out of action) by the security forces.
That same week he appeared on NBS TV frontline talk show with Miria Matembe who knowingly or unknowingly appeared to have cast a spell on Kaweesi's life. As they say, the rest is history
