reading some of these comments makes me realise that some americans genuinely think we use decimals when using celsius, and im pretty sure its cause they converted stuff and got like 24.3C and went "wow, cant believe that these europeans dont use whole numbers for temperature"
You only think this because you already mentally connect temperature to Fahrenheit. When Americans say it’s 72 degrees I have no idea what that’s supposed to feel like because I mentally connect temperature to Celsius.
Percent hot is just cope
@SilentRadioMist@YesterDraws he is an incredibly caring, passionate artist, who is not only incredible at making things with his hands, but also cooking, cleaning and just general homemaking. not to mention the fact he is set to inherit a (apparently) thriving business.
@icpolicy@davepl1968 just fuckin malloc it lmao. alloca has its uses, but its wront to just say you should use it everywhere. want a small array that you dont quite know the size of, and then discard? alloca it. want a huge index of structures that persist for most of your program? malloc time
@icpolicy@davepl1968 8mb is a very large amount of memory for storing a list of items in. thats 2 million integers. unless you start using it for everything, youre fine
people complain about the windows api because its old and janky (true). But at least its consistent and well documented. on linux everything has 8 ways to do something, and half the time it depends on the window manager, and the best docs are a plain text page from 1999
Americans pissing and shitting about petrol being like $5 a gallon is kind of funny given that here in the UK it's hit the equivalent of like $8-9 /gallon
with reflections in video games, i never understood why, if you only had one mirror, you didnt just like, render the scene again from the mirrors perspective and project it onto that surface? Portal does that with its portals, so why did old games do a bucnh of bull to avoid that
@rovarma you forgot 'its literally faster on linux!!! just type this command!!!!' like you dont still have to visit the website to find the command to type in.
@NoctreSharp@witchof0x20 Cause back in ye olden days when computers were huge and slow, C could only have a maximum of 6 characters per identifier. It's why all old C code is incomprehensible.
@TransFeetPics@amenluvr@kinpatsukenshi words from someone who has never had mechanoids drop pod into their base while two of your colonists are on a mental break
@TransFeetPics@kinpatsukenshi i have over 1000 hours and have made a few fairly popular mods for it, the game isnt difficult for me anymore but dont act like your first few dozen colonies didnt end up in firey disaster
