NLC kicks off Housing Month today with a post from @Nine7Thre3, Director of the Mayor’s Office of Homeless Services in Newark. Learn how the city utilized private and public partnerships, enhanced street outreach efforts, created low-barrier transitional housing and more. https://t.co/x9FIJAxbFR
In Newark, New Jersey, @Nine7Thre3, director of the city’s Office of Homeless Services, is out in the community talking directly with neighbors, listening to their stories and understanding what they need.
Helping someone find a path home starts with seeing the person in front of you. Know their name. Know their story. Understand what’s keeping them from housing. Then work together to remove those barriers and sometimes, it starts with a simple message of hope: things can get better.
That human connection, paired with housing and the right support, is how communities can help more people move home and stay home.
The billionaires @InstituteCicero trying to arrest and ticket homeless people won't admit this, but expanding housing programs has reduced homelessness in cities across the country, such as Raleigh, Newark, New Orleans & more. #HousingNotHandcuffs https://t.co/GMvYfv5203

They say I’m not electable because I’m from Newark, because I’m progressive, because I’m Black. I say that’s exactly why I’m ready. New Jersey is ready too. Ready for change. Ready for Ras Baraka. June 10. #RasForGovernor#ReimagineNJ#TeamBaraka
