Congress - the first stimulus checks haven’t arrived and already we need the 2nd. Make the checks recurring for the duration of the crisis so we can get through this. #MoneyForThePeople#BailOutThePeople
I’m moving $1B of my Square equity (~28% of my wealth) to #startsmall LLC to fund global COVID-19 relief. After we disarm this pandemic, the focus will shift to girl’s health and education, and UBI. It will operate transparently, all flows tracked here: https://t.co/hVkUczDQmz
OMG... look where we are now. Look at this proposal that @RepMaxineWaters just got through the House Finance Committee:
✅ $2k per adult + $1k per kid
✅ Full universality
✅ Every month until this is over
✅ Financed by the Fed
This is incredible.
#EmergencyUBI@AndrewYang
I’d like to express my profound gratitude and appreciation to everyone who supported my campaign when others would not. I hope you feel like we helped move our country in the right direction in the nick of time. I do. #yanggang#YangGangForever
Congrats to both Biden & Bernie for being outplayed by the WH. All you needed to do was come out in support of #EmergencyUBI 1st, but you didn't and now it's Trump that will be seen as having saved the economy come Nov. Bernie's silence is especially deafening with Squad support.
As of today, the following members of Congress have endorsed #EmergencyUBI:
✅ @TulsiGabbard
✅ @AOC
✅ @SenatorRomney
✅ @RepKatiePorter
✅ @Ilhan
✅ @RepAdamSchiff
✅ @repblumenauer
Please reply with more endorsers in Congress as they endorse and I'll add them to this thread.
We need an economic response to this crisis as well as a health response.
Let’s start by keeping it simple.
An immediate payment of $1,000 for every adult. $500 for every kid.
This will help keep families afloat and businesses that depend on them.
We are all in this together.
This is not a fiscal problem this is a demand problem as the economy will slow to a crawl with the coronavirus. The question is how do you support baseline demand and give families the ability to weather this period? The only answer is to put cash into people’s hands quickly.
Glad a relief bill is being passed even if it is woefully inadequate. The fallout will continue as will the need to pass a more robust bill that includes a #UBIStimulus as the current remedies won’t properly relieve millions of Americans who are losing wages, tips and business.
An agreement has been reached on the legislation. We will be holding two rounds of votes later tonight to pass a direct emergency aid package for individual Americans. It will then go to the Senate for action. #NationalEmergency#CoronaVirusUpdate
Yesterday I introduced HRes 897 to provide an #EmergencyUBI for every American — the most simple, direct form of assistance to help weather this storm. As negotiations continue on the bipartisan aid package, let your Member of Congress know why this is so important. #Covid_19
When a company declares a dividend for shareholders it’s considered good management. Shouldn’t we, the citizens of this country be entitled to a dividend, particularly in an emergency situation? It’s our money anyway and it would all go right back into keeping families afloat.
$1000 a month for every American for the next three months. A trillion dollars we can borrow at negative rates. Creating some basic income will also help with public health compliance.
