Remember last week when Senator Hawley exposed Flock cameras scanning your face, your bumper stickers, and the inside of your car without a warrant? San Francisco just voted to keep them.
Crime dropped 30% after those cameras went up. The Democratic mayor and the San Francisco Democratic Party looked at that number and said these stay. They added rules. Data deleted after 30 days. Every search tied to a case. The cameras are not coming down.
That is the hard part. A Republican senator put the warrantless scans on the record. A Democratic city kept the system because break-ins fell. Something is reading your face without asking, and your car is less likely to get hit. Both of those things are true at the same time.
No clean answer. Just the question.
