As part of NISP, several fish bypasses will be built along the Poudre River, enhancing fish movement. The Watson Fish Bypass was completed in 2019 as part of this effort.

Collectively, participants have reduced per-capita water use by about 30 percent since 2000 by embracing conservation, water reuse and other strategies to help meet future water demands.

The issuance of the Record of Decision for NISP was based on a lengthy and rigorous scientific analysis under the National Environmental Policy Act and a host of other environmental laws - a culmination of nearly 20 years of study, design and refinement.

NISP is a new, two-reservoir water supply project that includes more than $60 million in environmental measures so the Poudre River can remain ecologically vibrant and continue serving as a reliable and safe water supply for years to come.

NISP is committed to the health of the Poudre River! In addition to site specific improvements, $6 million will go toward the study and implementation of a river master plan to provide even further long-term benefits.
