Back in July, one of our members attended the World Ticketing Conference in Nashville. NITO just filed a formal complaint with the FTC about what we witnessed, including exhibitors selling tech to circumvent security measures and ticket limits, illegal under the 2016 BOTS Act.
This would amount to hundreds of millions of dollars annually to US musicians for domestic and international airplay. We ask all NITO members to use the link in our bio to contact their congressional representatives and ask them to pass this bill.
Yesterday, NITO sent this letter to House and Senate staffers urging Congress to pass the long overdue American Music Fairness Act. If passed, music workers would finally get a performance royalty for terrestrial radio broadcasts. #musicfairness
Great having so many NITO members at last week'sย @nivassoc Conference. We had a joint board meeting with NIVA and NITO and are excited about new ways to work together more closely moving forward!
๐ต NITO has proudly joined the @Human_Artistry Campaign! We're dedicated to protecting working musicians from exploitation by emerging technologies and ensuring their representation in policy discussions.
๐ Why it matters:
โข Preserving Creativity: We champion AI that supports, not supplants, the musical artistry that shapes our culture.
โข Empowering Voices: It's crucial that the interests of those who bring music to life are heard and respected.

We are grateful for the artists' support and encourage more musicians and their fans to join the movement for ticketing reform at https://t.co/Wz74ADhO62
ICYMI: Last week, 250+ major music artists endorsed the #FansFirstAct, proposed legislation in the Senate targeting unethical ticket resellers and illegal bots that affect the ticketing industry โ voiced through a letter sent to Congress, coordinated by the #FixTheTix coalition.

It's true, watching @BuckDharmaBOC testify was a highlight of this fight. An absolute legend of rock music, offering his two minutes of public testimony like any other citizen! Totally inspiring!
We will continue to push back against resellers at the federal and state level until artist voices are heard louder than the secondary sites. Join our effort at https://t.co/Wz74ADilVA
Huge win for #FixTheTix coalition in Maryland with the passage of SB539. A special shout out to @TKOBooking client @BuckDharmaBOC of @TheAmazingBOC who testified at the State House in favor of the bill.

Predatory resellers are in a tech arms race with artists and venues. They get past ticket limits using bot tech, banned under federal law. The Fans First Act in the Senate, supported by NITO and the #FixTheTix coalition, would strengthen the BOTS Act and enforcement mechanisms.
In February, NITO Member Dave Shapiro from Sound Talent Group testified before the California State Assembly, discussing the intensive process of cancelling bot tickets and the issues that arise from the current lack of enforcement. #FixTheTix
