@JulieSHasson Starting year 35 and the answer is no. There are NO ice breakers worth doing. Introverts are too busy thinking up what his/her answers are and are not listening to any of the rest. Ask me how I know 🤣. Just let us mingle and visit for a few.
@TheMathGuru@robertkaplinsky@MathTherapy I used Open Middle a great deal as warm ups and openers (my students and I loved them!), so I loved that part plus the section that details how we don’t do real problem solving math - just these contrived problems or just algorithmic stuff with no real sense of why we do it.
@L_D_Washington@Angela_Watson HS: have skin in the game. Need credit for the class to graduate so leads to more or some motivation. MS: nothing to really hold over them if they aren’t self or parent motivated. Can also see growth in HS that you can’t see in MS since it’s longer.
