@lancecheek Lot of good tunes, you don’t always hear “Smiling Faces Sometimes” on oldies/ classic hits stations like the rest of the tunes, also, “It’s Too Late” from an album that plays like a hits collection - Tapestry
Today, a corporate executive in a central office often programs the music for hundreds of stations. The magic of a local station championing a homegrown band like The Shadows of Knight or pushing an R&B track from The Platters faster than the rest of the country is gone.
Telecommunications Act 1996, into law, legislation rewrote the rules of America broadcasting. It was marketed as a way to lower prices, increase competition, but opposite effect on radio. It was an unprecedented wave of corporate mergers out goes “mom and pop" stations.
@lancecheek Pet Sounds is the one I listen to the most, but a lot of good albums. I have Face To Face with bonus tracks like the classic “I’m Not Like Everybody Else”
@RnRNationlive A lot of good albums - Airplane, Doors, Beatles and Stones, but I got to go with the one I listen to the most “Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd. -The Monkees
@Marlayna29 Maybe because he just passed, but always liked Alex Ligertwood, first heard him with Brian Auger’s Oblivion Express and then later on with Santana
@symeew13 Don’t get me wrong, all great performances, but I always go to on the album, Grace Slick “ Good Morning People” and The Jefferson Airplane doing Volunteers.
