The hardest part of being an executive: the AMOUNT OF READING you have to do to be prepared, well-informed on a subject matter & up to date with all the various aspects of leading a business.
It’s bloody hard.
It’s a never-ending stream of reading material. Just droves of management reports, inbound and outbound proposals, board packs, subcommittee discussion documents, strategy documents, performance data reports, financial data & still having the energy to excite a team toward an inspiring vision.
And you have to read for comprehension, analysis and deep interrogation.
And then, make sure you don’t forget what you read.
Even after all these years, I still can’t digest how much reading one has to do.
It’s a lot!

This is the level of playfulness the @MYANC subjects black people to. You are expected to industrialise with just R50 million in catalytic funding. Solidarity invested R300 million in a single technical college in Pretoria. Saint-Gobain Africa opened a new R500 million fibre cement manufacturing plant in Ekurhuleni.
Black people must forget about industrialisation under this government. The officials in the @the_dtic should just continue collecting their cut after funding these so-called projects and buying properties in Hartbeespoort, as they have been doing.
This is playfulness of the highest order.
Advocate Muzi Sikhakhane SC , Advocate Ndlovukazi Sikhakhane SC and the son Advocate Mpilo Sikhakhane lethal combination of a family I’m truly grateful to the commission for exposing us to such an amazing and inspiring legal family #Madlangacommission this what we call BLACK EXCELLENCE ✊🏿🇿🇦🇿🇦
I miss the old church days, no cameras, no videos, just peace and real connection with God. Now people are always recording, vlogging. You can't even pray or worship in peace without a phone pointing at you.
Not everything needs to be content. Some moments are meant to be private, personal and spiritual😢
Fezile’s fight is not his alone, it’s for those who are not as articulate and organized as he is. Some gave up their fights a longtime ago. Some fear institutional blacklisting. It is NB we understand how critical this moment is and give it the momentum it deserves!
In 1994, black South Africans needed black industrialists, economists and creatives at the helm of government institutions, not former freedom fighters whose greatest flex is, “my struggle credentials”.
Trust me, we would be sitting in a completely different country and economy
…you said absolutely nothing to address systematic hurdles within your ‘governance’ processes. fezile was ONE applicant, what about the many entrepreneurs who raised issues with the IDC?!
@MissNthabeleng Maybe the collective voice of black entrepreneurs (particularly women) could request a review of these institutions.
I once had an idea of a reality show where entrepreneurs go from idea to funding to execution (all on camera for transparency). Then we’d know where issues lie,
@MissNthabeleng I am convinced these DFI's were never designed to fund startups. Our experience with NEF: We were required to submit a lease agreement during our application process while they were to send us a "draft funding agreement". A rejection followed, + a financial and litigation mess
@AfikaSoyamba@Ant_089@feziledhlamini_ In short, these DFI’s are NOT created for start ups. They need to stop selling themselves as such.
Thank you for this and taking your time.
Most entrepreneurs in SA will tell you how they application for funding got rejected by government and next day their project is seen with someone 100% funded. Very painful experience to see your efforts being eaten by vultures.
I hope the outrage about Fezile is not just another social media trend but the beginning of an awakening and a revolution that will confront and reverse 30 years of systemic, post democratic exclusion of black industrialists, innovators and visionaries.
It is long overdue!
@MduduziMats Some kind of a commission of inquiry is needed into that sector. It is a very strategic sector, and our government is giving a lot of money, and all you is meaningless 'training workshops, skill development sessions, delivery of wheelbarrows and rakes to aspiring entrepreneurs.
Today's tweets by @feziledhlamini_ reminded me of this...
I'm really not in a good space today.
Also @Mashstartup thank you for documenting South African entrepreneurs stories... You are highly appreciated bro.
