The National Museum, represented by the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Section, organised a consultative meeting to prepare the Annual Plan for 2027, recognising the importance of this phase in enhancing the quality of institutional planning and performance monitoring.

The meeting addressed several key themes, most notably the review and analysis of the performance of indicators and projects, the identification of challenges and lessons learned, the determination of priorities and areas of focus for 2027, as well as the development of indicators and monitoring and evaluation mechanisms.

This meeting forms part of the process of developing an integrated annual plan based on institutional performance outcomes, contributing to the enhancement of planning and monitoring efficiency at the National Museum and supporting the achievement of its strategic objectives.

نظّم المتحف الوطني، ممثلًا في قسم متابعة تنفيذ رؤية عُمان (2040)، لقاءً تشاوريًا لإعداد الخطة السنوية لعام (2027م)، وذلك انطلاقًا من أهمية هذه المرحلة في تعزيز جودة التخطيط والمتابعة المؤسسية.

وتناول اللقاء عددًا من المحاور الرئيسة، من أبرزها قراءة وتحليل أداء المؤشرات والمشاريع، واستخلاص التحديات والدروس المستفادة، وتحديد الأولويات ومجالات التركيز لعام (2027م)، إلى جانب تطوير المؤشرات وآليات المتابعة والتقييم.

ويأتي هذا اللقاء في إطار إعداد خطة سنوية متكاملة تستند إلى نتائج الأداء المؤسسي، بما يسهم في تعزيز كفاءة أعمال التخطيط والمتابعة بالمتحف الوطني، ويدعم تحقيق أهدافه الاستراتيجية.

Between a pen and a Ferrari… unfolds the story of Italian industrial design.

The exhibition “From One to a Million: Stories of Italian Design” at the National Museum.

A journey into the world of Italian industrial design, where everyday details meet pieces that shaped the history of creativity.

The exhibition runs until 1 November 2026.

The National Museum, represented by the Learning Centre, organised a workshop on “Urban Sketching” presented by artist Laith bin Khalifa al-Shiyadi, as part of the programme celebrating International Museum Day, with the participation of a number of artists and individuals interested in the field of drawing.

The workshop explored the fundamentals of urban sketching and the incorporation of architectural and aesthetic elements into artistic works. It also provided participants with a practical experience within the museum galleries and among its collections, enabling them to produce artworks that reflect their creative visions within a framework that promotes cultural awareness and engagement with museums as educational and creative spaces.

The workshop comes as an extension of the cultural and educational programmes and activities organised by the museum’s Learning Centre, reaffirming its role in promoting cultural awareness and strengthening community engagement.

نظّم المتحف الوطني، ممثلًا بمركز التعلّم، ورشة في "الرسم الحضري" قدّمها الفنان/ ليث بن خليفة الشيادي، ضمن برنامج فعاليات الاحتفاء باليوم العالمي للمتاحف، بمشاركة عدد من الفنانين والهواة والمهتمين بمجال الرسم.

تناولت الورشة أساسيات الرسم الحضري وتوظيف العناصر المعمارية والجمالية في الأعمال الفنية، كما أتاحت للمشاركين تجربة عملية داخل قاعات المتحف وبين مقتنياته؛ لإنتاج لوحات تعبّر عن رؤاهم الإبداعية، في إطار يعزز الوعي الثقافي والتفاعل مع المتاحف بوصفها فضاءات تعليمية وإبداعية.

وتأتي هذه الورشة امتدادًا للبرامج والفعاليات الثقافية والتعليمية لمركز التعلم بالمتحف، تأكيدًا على دوره في نشر الوعي الثقافي وتعزيز المشاركة المجتمعية.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Omani Design Association (Design Oman) and the ADI Design Museum, Milano. The memorandum aims to establish a framework for joint cooperation and the exchange of knowledge and expertise between both parties through the organisation of mentorship programmes and international workshops for young designers, as well as participation in exhibitions and international design weeks.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on behalf of the Omani side by Her Highness Sayyida Meyyan bint Shihab bin Tariq al-Said, Chairwoman of the Board of the Omani Design Association (Design Oman), and on behalf of the Italian side by Dr Andrea Cancellato, Director of the ADI Design Museum, Milano.

Under the patronage of Her Highness Sayyida Meyyan bint Shihab bin Tariq al-Said, Chairwoman of the Board of the Omani Design Association (Design Oman), the National Museum today inaugurated the exhibition “From One to a Million: Stories of Italian Design”, in collaboration with the ADI Design Museum, Milano and the Embassy of the Italian Republic in Muscat, under the curatorship of Maria Cristina Didero and in cooperation with illustrator Steven Guarnaccia. The opening ceremony was attended by a number of Their Excellencies, artists, and individuals interested in cultural and artistic affairs.

The exhibition, the first of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman, offers a creative journey through the history of modern Italian industrial design, showcasing a collection of distinguished pieces that have become integral to the broader understanding of Italy’s creative industry. It highlights the intersection of artistic innovation and industrial production, and their influence on the details of everyday life. The exhibition will run until 1 November 2026.

The exhibition also features a curated selection of pieces that received the “Compasso d’Oro” (Golden Compass) Award, the oldest and most prestigious design award in the Italian Republic, founded on the vision of the modernist architect and designer Gio Ponti.

The concept of the exhibition is inspired by two objects that may appear, at first glance, to belong to entirely different worlds: the “Tratto Pen”, beloved by Italian designers, and the “Ferrari” car admired by every museum visitor. One was produced and sold on a mass scale, while the other represents an exclusive and exceptionally rare product.

وعلى هامش المعرض تم التوقيع على مذكرة تفاهم بين الجمعية العُمانية للتصميم (تصميم عُمان) ومتحف رابطة التصميم الصناعي. وتهدف هذه المذكرة إلى وضع أسس للتعاون المشترك وتبادل المعرفة والخبرات بين الجانبين، وذلك من خلال تنظيم برامج توجيهية وورش عمل دولية للمصممين الشباب، والمشاركة في المعارض وأسابيع التصميم العالمية.

وقع مذكرة التفاهم من الجانب العُماني صاحبة السمو السيدة/ ميَّان بنت شهاب بن طارق آل سعيد الموقرة، رئيسة مجلس إدارة الجمعية العُمانية للتصميم (تصميم عُمان)، ومن الجانب الإيطالي الدكتور/ آندريه كانشيلاتو، مدير متحف رابطة التصميم الصناعي.

تحت رعاية صاحبة السمو السيدة/ ميَّان بنت شهاب بن طارق آل سعيد الموقرة، رئيسة مجلس إدارة الجمعية العُمانية للتصميم (تصميم عُمان)، افتتح المتحف الوطني اليوم معرض "من الواحد إلى المليون: قصص التصميم الإيطالي"، بالتعاون مع متحف رابطة التصميم الصناعي (ADI)، وسفارة الجمهورية الإيطالية بمسقط، وبإشراف قَيِّمة المعرض ماريا كريستينا ديديرو، وبالتعاون مع الرسام ستيفن غوارناتشيا. وبحضور عدد من أصحاب السعادة، والفنانين والمهتمين بالشأن الثقافي والفني.

يُعد هذا المعرض الأول من نوعه في سلطنة عُمان؛ ويقدّم رحلة إبداعية تستعرض تاريخ التصميم الصناعي الإيطالي الحداثي من خلال مجموعة من القطع المميّزة التي أضحت جزءًا من فهمنا العام للصناعة الإبداعية الإيطالية، مسلطًا الضوء على التمازج بين الابتكار الفني والإنتاج الصناعي وتأثيرهما على تفاصيل الحياة اليومية. ويستمر المعرض حتى (1 نوفمبر 2026م). كما يضم المعرض مجموعة منتقاة من القطع التي حازت على جائزة "البوصلة الذهبية"، وهي أقدم وأعرق جائزة تصميم في الجمهورية الإيطالية بناءً على فكرة المعماري والمصمم الحداثي "جيو بونتي".

وتأتي فكرة المعرض انطلاقًا من قطعتين يبدو للوهلة الأولى أنهما من عالمين متباعدين تماماً: "قلم تراتو" المحبب لدى المصممين الإيطاليين، وسيارة "فيراري" التي يحلم بها كل زائر للمتحف؛ فأحدهما أُنتج وبِيع على نطاق واسع، والآخر يُعد منتجًا حصريًا ونادرًا للغاية.

As part of the accompanying events of the Omani-Tunisian cultural evening, the National Museum, represented by the Learning Centre and in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Tunisia, organised a lecture titled “Traditional Fashion: Craft and Identity”, presented by designers Faiza bint Jumaa al-Balushi and Amal al-Henshiri, in the presence of a number of designers and individuals interested in cultural affairs.

The lecture explored the designers’ experiences in the field of traditional fashion design and highlighted key milestones in their professional journeys, in addition to shedding light on the importance of incorporating traditional heritage into contemporary designs in ways that contribute to preserving and showcasing cultural identity through modern creative approaches.

في إطار الفعاليات المصاحبة للأمسية الثقافية العُمانية التونسية، نظّم المتحف الوطني ممثلاً بمركز التعلم بالتعاون مع سفارة الجمهورية التونسية محاضرة بعنوان "الأزياء التقليدية: حِرفة وهُويّة"، قدمتها المُصمِّمتان فايزة بنت جمعة البلوشي وآمال الهنشيري، بحضورِ عددٍ من المصممين والمهتمين بالشأن الثقافي.

وتناولت المحاضرة تجربة المصممتين في مجال تصميم الأزياء التقليدية، وأبرز محطات مسيرتهما المهنية، إلى جانب تسليط الضوء على أهمية توظيف الموروث التقليدي في التصاميم المعاصرة؛ بما يُسهم في الحفاظ على الهوية الثقافية وإبرازها بأساليب إبداعية حديثة.

An exceptional cultural evening hosted by the National Museum, where the threads of authenticity intertwined between Omani and Tunisian traditional fashion in expressions that narrated stories of identity and artistry across time.

أمسية ثقافية استثنائية شهدها المتحف الوطني، تلتقي فيها خطوط الأصالة بين الأزياء التراثية العُمانية والتونسية، في تجليات تروي حكايات الهوية والفن عبر الزمن.

The National Museum, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Tunisia in Muscat, organised an Omani-Tunisian cultural evening titled “Threads of Authenticity”, under the patronage of Her Highness Sayyida Thuraya bint Thuwaini bin Saif al-Said, and in the presence of several ambassadors, officials, and individuals interested in cultural and artistic affairs.

The evening’s programme included a showcase of traditional Omani fashion presented by Omani designer Faiza bint Jumaa al-Balushi, founder of Bait al-Fanar for Traditional Fashion, while Tunisian designer Amal al-Henshiri, founder of Marjana Heritage Jewellery Gallery, presented a showcase of traditional Tunisian fashion.

The evening also featured a musical performance by Tunisian qanun player Rania al-Ayadi, who performed compositions inspired by authentic Tunisian musical heritage, in addition to the opening of a traditional jewellery corner displaying examples of traditional Tunisian jewellery that highlighted the beauty and precision of traditional craftsmanship.

The organisation of this evening reflects the cultural cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Tunisia, and highlights the rich heritage of both countries in the fields of traditional crafts, fashion, and jewellery making, while also shedding light on the incorporation of this heritage into modern creative visions that combine authenticity and innovation.

نظّم المتحف الوطني، بالتعاون مع سفارة الجمهورية التونسية في مسقط، أُمسية ثقافية عُمانية تونسية بعنوان "خيوط الأصالة"، تحت رعاية صاحبة السمو السيدة/ ثريا بنت ثويني بن سيف آل سعيد الموقرة، وبحضور عدد من أصحاب السعادة السفراء والمسؤولين والمهتمين بالشأن الثقافي والفني.

وتضمّن برنامج الأمسية عرضًا للأزياء العُمانية التقليدية قدّمته المصممة العُمانية/ فايزة بنت جمعة البلوشي، صاحبة مؤسسة "بيت الفنار للأزياء التقليدية"،فيما قدّمت المصممة التونسية/ آمال الهنشيري، صاحبة معرض "مرجانة" للمجوهرات التراثية، عرضًا للأزياء التونسية التقليدية.

كما شهدت الأمسية أيضا فقرة موسيقية أحيتها عازفة آلة القانون التونسية/ رانية العيادي، قدّمت خلالها مقطوعات مستوحاة من الموروث الموسيقي التونسي الأصيل، إلى جانب افتتاح ركنٍ للمصوغ التقليدي عُرضت فيه نماذج من الحُليّ التونسية التقليدية التي أبرزت جماليات الحِرف اليدوية ودقّتها.

تأتي إقامة هذه الأمسية تأكيدًا على التعاون الثقافي بين سلطنة عُمان والجمهورية التونسية، وإبرازًا لما يزخر به البلدان من إرثٍ عريق في مجالات الحِرف التقليدية والأزياء وصياغة الحُلي، إلى جانب تسليط الضوء على توظيف هذا الموروث ضمن رؤى إبداعية حديثة تجمع بين الأصالة والابتكار.
