Trustees, leadership & executive management from the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund & Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital came together for a Masterclass focused on strengthening fundraising, exploring opportunities & building the partnerships needed to sustain & grow our impact.
But she didn't stop there. Thandolwenkosi started her own initiative to educate learners aged 16-18 about voting & the importance of participating in democracy. We're proud to support young leaders who are carrying Madiba's legacy forward & helping the next gen find its voice.
This #YouthMonth we're celebrating young leaders such as Thandolwenkosi Nkosi. She participated in the 2023 Legacy Academy, delivered in partnership with the IEC, and gained insights into the importance of voting, active citizenship & the role younth play in shaping SA's future
Today, we celebrate the 84th birthday of former President Thabo Mbeki, whose contribution to South Africa's democracy and development continues to leave a lasting impact. We wish you a wonderful birthday and thank you for your continued commitment to building a better future. 🫶
As we mark #YouthDay under the theme "#RESETat50 – The Future Calls," we're reminded that the future is shaped by young people we invest in today. At our 30th Anniversary Gala, Junior Mayor of Johannesburg Kamohelo Malikane challenged us to focus on meaningful change #NMCF30Years
As we mark #YouthDay, we're reminded that young people are not only the future; they are active leaders & changemakers today. For 30yrs we've worked to ensure children are given opportunities to thrive. Because investing in young people today is investing in the future of Africa.
What's one thing you'd change to create a better future? As we close out #ChildProtectionWeek, we're spotlighting Amogelang Mashele, President of the Nelson Mandela Children's Parliament, whose address at our 30th Gala Dinner challenged us all.

Today he's doing better at school, resolving conflict positively & looking towards the future. His story reminds us that protecting children is not only about preventing harm. It's about creating opportunities for children to heal & thrive. Every child deserves that chance.
For a 13-year-old boy growing up in a community affected by violence often meant living with fear & anger. Through the Surf Therapy that we support, he found a safe space to heal, build confidence & develop healthy ways to manage his emotions. Donate now: https://t.co/WbuHFu6Pdl
This #ChildProtectionWeek, the theme “Working together to end violence against children” reminds us that it takes families, schools, gov & all of us working together to create safer environments. Every R100 enables a child to participate in our programmes: https://t.co/WbuHFu6Pdl
Still smiling after receiving this special message from our friend of the Fund, Whoopi Goldberg. ✨ At our Cannes gala dinner, Whoopi shared a beautiful reflection on Madiba. Thank you, Whoopi, for taking the time to send us this message and for always showing up for children. ❤️
Still thinking about Friday night in Cannes... From performances by Rene Idowu and Debbie Sledge, to moments spotlighting the work and voices of children, it was a beautiful evening centred around connection, generosity, and shared purpose. Here are a few moments from the night✨
A special night for the children✨ Thank you to everyone who joined us in Cannes & continues to support the work of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund. From the performances to the conversations and all the beautiful moments in between, it was an evening we won’t forget.
As we prepare for our 4th annual Cannes gala gathering, we look forward to reconnecting with partners and friends who continue to believe in the power of collective action.
Thirty years on, the call to place children at the centre of society remains just as important.
Last year at Cannes, we realised change happens when people come together around a shared purpose. Through moments like these & through the generosity of those who support our work & Madiba’s vision, we're able to continue creating better opportunities for children.
