For benefit of UK patients, now more important than ever to specifically ask who you are seeing in hospital and to clarify their role. Role substitution and mixing/matching staff was already policy, but it's becoming more embedded.

Heading to the high court today to cover the @AnaesUnited case against the @gmcuk over the regulation of PAs and AAs. The family of Emily Chesterton, who died after being misdiagnosed by a PA she thought was a GP, will be in attendance
A very gracious apology, thank you @LeeAndersonMP_
Thanks also for the donation; I hope it inspires others to donate to the Strike Fund as well.

Makes for bleak reading - this is the competition that trained and qualified doctors face just to continue with their training - without this, they can't become the experts of tomorrow. Only 1 in 2.67 doctors can train as a GP even if they want to, during an ongoing crisis!
So I’ve thought long and hard about this:
When the ballot went out I voted to strike. I’ve been in two minds whether to go through with it, particularly with the disruption it will cause, but I’ve decided to go through with it.
F1 Doctors are now paid LESS per hour than upper-point Band 4 workers.
Band 4 workers do not accrue £100k of debt & endure 5 years of med school. They do not make life-death decisions on a daily basis.
Unjustifiable. 35,000+ doctors will continue to strike until this is fixed.
This is an anon account with 3 followers so writing a 🧵 will surely be a waste of time!
I’m a consultant with an interest in health policy but anyone trying to claim they know what’s going on with NHS work force planning is lying.
So read on if you want one person’s opinion…
Junior doctors in England have just voted overwhelmingly for strike action
77% turnout
98% YES
This is why I shall be standing shoulder to shoulder with them👇
Junior doctors have voted YES to pay restoration. With pay cuts of over 26%, doctors want to be paid fairly for their work and value provided.
Over 98% voted yes with a 77.5% turnout- a massive mandate.
Thank you to everyone that has got us here.

Disturbing.
We should be rewarding and valuing these productive members of society and not unfairly demonising them in the press.
They will look to leave for better and safer pastures.
The anti-GP violence, abuse & aggression continues unabated. This is our waiting room @wilsonstsurgery y’day after a patient trashed it. Negative media narrative, anti-GP rhetoric, unrelenting demand & unrealistic expectations leads to this level of violence. Where will it end?
When we're trying to concentrate on just how much NHS staff pay has fallen, a single Dr has shifted the narrative to the false flag of 7 day services. If you're asked as a Dr onto any media interview please, please get a briefing from @BMAMediaOffice @theBMA first. Please RT
DDRB report coming later today!
Just a reminder of how much the last few years have hurt our pay
35% decrease in real terms!
For #payrestoration we would need a 50% increase from today’s base
The average consultant is essentially working Jan-Apr for free every year
We’re demanding full pay restoration for junior doctors in England, after a historic real terms pay cut of 22.4%.
If Govt fails to meet this we’ll begin preparations to ballot junior doctors in England for industrial action by early 2023 at the latest https://t.co/dyj65GuY67
