What a day, what an era of yet another high- Inaugarating 1st phase Ogaden NLG with prdn capacity of 111 million liters; launching the 2nd phase which will add 1.33 billion liters per year, plus 1,000 MW & huge Fertiliser Factory & Refinery ... is indeed phenomenal. Hooray!!
The overall city corridors approach is giving us great hope for the future. We began with four corridors in the first phase, followed by eight in the second. Today, we reviewed the completed Addis International Convention Center–Goro–VIP Airport corridor, a 12.74 km stretch that includes over 29 km of pedestrian walkways and 15.27 km of dedicated bike lanes.
This corridor features expanded road lanes, a new alternative road from Goro to Bole Airport, and extensive riverside development along the route. It also integrates seven sports centers, car parks, taxi and bus terminals, cafés, restaurants, public toilets, and much more. These developments have created jobs, enhanced accessibility, and strengthened the city’s infrastructure.
In every sphere, Ethiopia continues to expand. Our journey toward prosperity will not face hurdles or come to a halt. This achievement reflects a different vision and a renewed work culture that has made it all possible. While half of the city has been addressed so far, there are still areas we are committed to transforming.
Congratulations to all Ethiopians on another milestone in our journey toward food security and agricultural transformation. Today, we signed the Fertilizer Complex Shareholder Investment Agreement between Ethiopian Investment Holdings and Dangote Group. With an investment of $2.5 billion, this mega project will produce up to 3 million metric tons of fertilizer annually, placing Ethiopia among the largest producers globally.
This project will create jobs locally, ensure a reliable fertilizer supply for our farmers who have long faced challenges, and mark a decisive step in our path to food sovereignty. It strengthens Ethiopia’s competitiveness across the continent and reflects our commitment to executing strategic investments that serve our people and our future.
Following today’s signing, we will officially launch the project on site. We have started this journey, and we will finish it for our farmers, for our economy, and for Ethiopia’s future.
I am honoured to convey Prime Minister Abiy’s message to & confer with Presidents H.E. Yoweri Museveni and H.E. William Ruto. Appreciated their constructive role in building understanding & cooperation in the HOA rather than driving a wedge between.
The Future of Ethiopia: food security
Food security is the main agenda of our agricultural transformation through different initiatives. Maize production is one of main crops for food security and we are working to cover 1.8 million hectares with maize cluster. Thank God!
We convened this morning for the 100-day Council of Ministers evaluation, the last one before the end of the current budget year. As always, we will review sectoral performance to assess gaps and build on strengths.
We promised that the next corridor review would be on the streets. I'm pleased to share that we've finished the Piassa and Arat Kilo routes in three months, right on schedule. Resource saving remains essential, and we need to be fast and innovative to maintain our momentum in the remaining corridors.
Ensuring quality and creating a conducive environment for all our citizens remains our top priority. This project thrives on cooperation, and I'm grateful for the goodwill we've received, reciprocating the effort and goodwill we've put into planning and execution.
We apologize for any inconveniences we may have caused our citizens in the process of this grand initiative that is positively transforming our cities. Rest assured, we are committed to helping Ethiopia and will continue to address any design and quality gaps as we progress.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in these efforts, including our partners in the private sector and those who came out to share their love with us in the streets yesterday evening.
On the margins of the #WorldCitiesSummit in Singapore i held discussion with @MarkWatts_.During this time ,we elaborated on ways of strengthening existing cooperation.
