The NNSO joined law enforcement officers from across the state of VA in the Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics Virginia. The Torch Run Final Leg & lighting of the cauldron to officially open the Special Olympics Virginia Summer Games will happen tonight in Richmond.
Capt. K.L. Gross spoke to the Basic Dispatcher Academy students about the Project Lifesaver program. The academy is a 12-week training program designed to prepare new public safety telecommunicators for the critical role they play in emergency response. We appreciate you!
This year, a dozen Newport News Sheriff's Office Deputies were proud to assist with traffic control for the 19th annual Chick-fil-A 10K/5K, winding past the scenic Mariners' Museum and Lions Bridge for one of the Peninsula's most beloved Memorial Day weekend traditions.

The NNSO was proud to participate in the 7th Annual Fun Day with Bunny at the C. Waldo Scott Center for H.O.P.E. Kids enjoyed egg coloring, Easter-themed crafts, and musical chairs. The highlight was the Easter Bunny and the Easter egg hunt!

Col. S. Whitfield joined local leaders including Mayor Phillip Jones at the Peninsula Agency On Aging (PAA) to support the Meals on Wheels America’s “End the Wait” campaign. She and her team delivered a hot nutritious meal to 16 of the 499 older adults PAA serves.
