@clhubes Same same. Only advice I am giving people about babies right now is to go directly for the second one. Don't even think about getting a first child, only horror and endless sleep deprivation.

@fleurjongepier Knap besluit. Ik ben erg tevreden als schrijvende en scheppende filosoof buiten de academie, ondanks dat 't soms dubbel voelt (waarom een PhD als je niet aan een universiteit wilt/gaat werken?!!). Ik wens je veel inspiratie en energie toe. En een community van gelijkgestemden!

@nologos_ Ha. That reminds me when I was applying for a Visa to the US, to work as half a year as a research fellow at a uni, a custom officer asked me what the findings of my research were. Erm... I still had to go do the research??!!! And it's in philosophy, so...

@cassmannes I just finished reading "Nightbitch" by Rachel Yoder. In it she described a lot of my own feelings about early motherhood -- which I'm still in. The loneliness and the happiness.

@TorilMoi @mervatim I read a lot of fiction on my phone. There are great apps, and it's possible to read while sunny or dark, and with one hand. Whenever you are waiting somewhere, even while walking (I need to walk my newborn a lot, my brain really started to get bored, reading saved me!)

@JenaFriedman My first one, now 2.5 years, sleeps really well now! By herself, after some stories and one song, she falls asleep on her own. Knock on wood.

@JenaFriedman Yes, I have experienced this and am experiencing it now (literally at this moment). With my first one, it got better after a year or so. I do it laying down, so I can read on my phone. Reading a LOT.
