I get a lot of people asking me how to break into tech sales without a degree.
Well that’s exactly what I did when I was 19 and now am a MM AE at 22.
First don’t go to college(waste of time if you want to be in sales)
Get a sales job 6 months -1 year
Then research hella companies you wanna work and work as an sdr get the main contacts like talent acquisition hiring managers sales leaders everyone that has influence in hiring you. Start with recruiters since they start the process.
Reach out to them individually on LinkedIn cold call email everything.
Then boom you are making 100k+ at 19 with the potential to make 7 figures
@TechSalesGuy 100% such a big misconception here. More volume imo is almost never the correct answer. Outreach should be focused on strategic calls and emails. Warm calls are the way to go or a have an actually very good reason for calling especially in my industry
One the hardest things is in life is when you believe in something but no one believes you. I remember when I graduated high school moved away from my hometown with 200 bucks and didn’t know how I was gonna pay next’s month rent. Everyone said I was crazy and no believed I would succeed. My own “friends” would talk shit and say it wasn’t going to work. But I just knew I had to do and it would workout.
All I can say it definitely worked out for me.
If I learned one thing is always to bet on yourself.
After some time off of X I decided I am going to switch up my content. I have loved posting finance content but I realized what I love doing is talking to people and solving complex problems.
So moving forward my content will be more focused on sales and how to be successful in tech sales.
I also am building some very special in the background whilst I make this transition.
Stay tuned.
Was traveling this weekend but back to sales tomorrow.
Plan for the week is a few onsites.
Generate new pipeline
Move forward existing deals
Let’s win the week
What’s your plan?
@hitborg Yep 100% a lot of people think their way is the best way which is okay but learning to take feedback and understand others opinions and perspectives is huge
Things I wish I knew before starting tech sales:
Your territory matters.
Your manager matters.
Your pipeline matters.
Your activity does NOT tell the full story.
And being coachable can make you a lot of money.
Sales has the fairest pay structure in corporate America.
Create more revenue.
Solve bigger problems.
Become harder to replace.
Make more money.
Your age and degree matter far less when you can produce.
@NotoriousROI 100% man wish I knew more abt that before I started my current role.
Territory is so so important and so is your manager besides yourself these two things are your biggest factor to your success imo
If I was 18 again I would do this:
Skip the $100k college debt.
Get an SDR job.
Learn how to sell.
Become a top performer.
Get promoted to AE.
Make $150k-200k while I’m 22
Then use that income to invest and build something on the side.
