@too2negative @Rescue114@ggrosi1@Lozadaak @BTtoronto That is not the standard order of operations, you must complete the equation inside the parentheses but the number outside is an implied multiplication which usually is done with the rest of the division and multiplication.
@MrsCapeceaMHS @BTtoronto This is really what the discussion is about. Some would argue that the implied multiplication still gets the parenthetical order priority. I generally do not agree, but understand the reasoning. The problem is that the notation of the question leaves room for interpretation
@ShaiDeLuca@The_Meathead @BTtoronto Just for clarity, the division and multiplication should be evaluated in order from left to right, not always division first. In this case the division happens before the multiplication because it occurs first from left to right.
@pjmdolI It would be 16 if you use standard algebra and order of operations properly, but if you use implicit multiplication for the brackets (where the multiplication gets precedence over the division) then the answer is 1. So, there are 2 correct answers. #mathrules
