I've discovered a fascinating fact about publishing a book.
Checking the release status every three seconds doesn't make it happen any faster.
I've tested this extensively over the last two days.
If only anticipation burned calories, I'd have lost a stone this week.

What Starts Here, Will Change the World
It's a pretty bold statement.
When we first started using it, I wondered if it might sound a little ambitious, or cheesy!
After all, Green Ginger isn't trying to change the world on its own.
But the more I thought about it, the more I realised that real change rarely starts with governments, corporations, or global movements.
It starts with people.
People learning new skills. Building confidence. Taking action. Creating opportunities for themselves and others.
That's what we see every day at Green Ginger, and it's why we believe that even the smallest actions can create a ripple effect far beyond where they began.
I've shared my thoughts in my latest blog.
I'd love to know what you think.

"It's official, I feel f*cked."
That was my conclusion after a 17-hour day on Thursday, followed by another early start on Friday.
Don't worry, I'm not advocating burnout; I'm celebrating purpose.
Because when you genuinely believe in what you're building, and the people you're building it with, those long days stop feeling like a sacrifice and start feeling like an investment.
This week got me thinking about hard work, long hours, purpose, and why the most successful organisations are the ones that put people first.

I've thought a lot over the years about about what truly motivates me.
Not just what I want to achieve, but why I want to achieve it.
When I look beyond business goals, personal challenges, and professional ambitions, I keep coming back to one simple idea: human potential.
What people are capable of becoming when they have access to opportunity, education, support, and the belief that they can achieve more than they ever thought possible.
The more I think about it, the more I realise this isn't just something I care about. It's the mission that sits behind everything I do.
So I decided to put that mission into words.

I discovered a new feature on my Apple Watch yesterday.
I've been wearing one since they were first introduced and had absolutely no idea it could do this.
Do you ever get one of those sudden surges of energy where you just want to do something, well, energetic? I get them quite often. Unfortunately, they usually end in disaster.
Last night, C and I were at a play park with the small person and her mums when I got the overwhelming urge to run up a slide and then surf back down it.
Attempt number one: my feet disappeared from beneath me and I landed heavily on my back.
Not to be deterred, I went again.
This time I successfully made it to the top before my surfing prowess abandoned me completely and left me crumpled at the bottom after landing rather unceremoniously on my wrist.
I managed to get back to my feet before noticing my Apple Watch was calling the emergency services because it thought I'd had a serious fall.
Thankfully, I cancelled the call before anyone turned up to whisk me away for being a complete plonka.
C then asked if two attempts were enough to realise that I can't surf down a children's slide.
My response?
"I just need more practice."
Obviously.
Although I did wake up this morning aching quite a bit, so I'll maybe give that some more thought!
Still, who knew that an Apple Watch did that!
I've owned one for years and only just discovered it knows when I'm being an idiot as well!
At least I know the emergency services will be on call the next time I have a surge of energy!!
I hope you have a great, accident free day
Cheers

We seem to live in a world that celebrates hustle.
Longer hours, fuller diary, busier schedules and late-night emails are often worn as symbols of commitment and success.
Somewhere along the way, we've convinced ourselves that working harder means we're being more productive.
It really doesn't!
Over the years, whether in hospitality, training, education or the spirits industry, I've noticed something interesting.
Colleagues producing the best results aren't always the busiest people in the room, they're often the calmest, the ones who create space to think, learn, experiment and focus on what really matters.
Perhaps it's time we stopped glorifying exhaustion and started paying more attention to effectiveness.
Because working is definitely cool.

I was opening the office blinds this morning, something I've done every day for years, apart from the few years Glen worked with us.
As I pulled them open, it reminded me of him straight away.
He joined Springfield Training as our caretaker and handy (ish) man, but every morning he'd appear in my office and we'd spend far longer than we should have just talking sh*t about everything and anything.
I can't believe it's coming up to two years since you left us, mate.
Not a week goes by without something reminding me of you. A wonky shelf, a tap falling off, or those conversations...
I hope you're at peace, wherever you are, and still talking sh*t.
Over the years, I've often found myself feeling stuck and needing to find a way forward.
Each time, I found myself asking the same question:
"How do I get back on track when I feel stuck?"
That's why I've created ONE MORE TIME RESET™ - a free resource designed to help rebuild momentum, confidence and direction when things feel uncertain.

It's helped me many times over the years, and it still does.
What's the most important lesson you've learned from having to start that thing again?

We’re spent the morning at The Little Red Berry Co collecting some of our handmade award winning (just saying) stock for our summer cocktails at Beyond The Red Door
I really do have a bright red, sunburned, big Yorkshire head!!
After months and months of writing, rewriting, reflection and the odd tantrum, One More Time™ is now a proofread away from publication.
This is my story of resilience, reinvention and the people who helped shape my journey.
Sharing it still feels unnatural and a little bit vulnerable, and there's been more than a little reluctance along the way. Putting pen to paper has, at times, felt uncomfortable, especially when those stories have lived quietly for so long.
I never imagined I'd write a book, yet here we are!
Publication is within touching distance.

I'm Just preparing for day 2 of our skills development course with young offenders today.
Yesterday was sooooo hot in the workshop, at one point I’m sure the whiteboard was starting to melt, but that was nothing compared to the incredible work these young people produced.
Hearing them recognise the need to be, and do, better, while understanding how transferable skills can improve their chances of securing work when they’re released, was genuinely inspirational.
I’m looking forward to another great day today, although if someone could turn the temperature down a bit, I'd appreciated it!
We’re at Green Ginger Training & Consultancy carrying out our final checks and preparations for two days of skills development sessions with young people at Wetherby Youth Offending Institute.
I’m genuinely looking forward to spending time with the young people, chatting with them, and supporting them as they develop new skills and confidence.
I'm very proud to be part of work that creates opportunities for growth, reflection, and positive change.
Yes, I am that bloke who constantly promotes the values of education, training, and regular CPD… yet still somehow manages to sulk whenever it’s my turn to actually do some!
That said, this week I’ve genuinely enjoyed attending a Dyslexia Awareness session delivered by a colleague and completing my annual Safeguarding and Prevent training.
I don’t often stop, take a breath, and properly appreciate my own learning, but that’s exactly what I did this week.
Taking a little bit of time for my own development means I’m heading into the long weekend feeling a little wiser… and probably a lot smugger than I should be!
Hope you have a great weekend.
Cheers
Noel
I was listening to the Stranglers this morning and thinking about how good they sound live, so I thought I'd make my own list of those groups/singers who sound as good live as they do on a recording.
Here goes:
Stranglers (Obvs)
Hollies
Sparks
10CC
Dexys (This may have been the drink in me but they get a free pass because I've been a superfan for about 200 years)
Editors
The Drifters (With Johnny Moore on lead)
Jimmy James and the Vagabonds (See Dexys above)
Please feel free to add your own favourites to the list
