Anderson Garcia Cabrera Jr., 8 months, was among three people shot dead at WestFest carnival in West Valley City, Utah, on Sunday evening, June 15. The baby, a twin, was an unintentional victim caught in crossfire alongside Fnu Reena, 41, also an unintentional bystander. Hassan Lugundi, 18, believed to be the intended target, also died. The shooting allegedly began after a "verbal altercation" involving an unnamed 16-year-old gunman, who has been charged with three counts of homicide.

Police were trying to break up the fight when the shots were fired. Anderson Garcia Sr., the baby's father, described hugging the stroller & seeing blood from the back of his son's head. Two other teenagers, a 17-year-old girl & a 15-year-old boy, sustained non-life-threatening arm wounds. A pregnant woman was injured trying to flee. The Garcia family wishes to take their baby's body to Guatemala for burial. The shooting remains under investigation, including if it was gang-related.
