@macusuweru i know right? i've been tempted to try to do one by hand to see if my solvers match reality before I go building a whole machine, but its scary because being 80% into it not working looks not that different from 80% of it working perfectly and just needing a little more

@schwarzposter_ this is sim but I've tried my hardest to make most of the real life effects (actual thickness, occlusion) be accounted for. the hard part is going to be making the machine. who knows how long that might take

Was thinking about getting back into hardware and making a string art machine, but a lot of the prior work/ public solvers for string art I thought could be improved. Still working on it, but BW 0 and 1 are youtube, 3 is a research paper. I think my color ones are much better

I'll keep everything updated as I develop here, unfortunately these aren't controlled on thread/ machine time but just maximizing overall quality. My next step is weighting parts of the image by saliency rather than overall "how much does the result match the image"

I get a sort of sick pleasure from bringing taco bell or mcdonald’s to the office for lunch. everyone with their corporate slop bowls, meticulously selecting for living longer and working at their desk. I’m over here scarfing down the type of stuff that makes you glow in the dark
