Possibility of US using nuclear weapons against Iran is growing as Iran threatens US carrier battle group. As I wrote in my 1989 book, U.S. Military Strategy in the Gulf, drawing on congressional documents & my interviews in Washington, the Central Command from its inception has had contingency plans for nuclear strikes on Iran. That scenario may be drawing closer.

My discussion then (see the attached pages) was about US response to a possible Soviet invasion of Iran which was CENTCOM’s founding mission, but without Iranian nuclear deterrence, the US can use nuclear weapons in Iran with less constraint,
