This story is a terrifying glimpse into the future: An employee at a multinational finance firm wired $25m at the request of their boss, thinking they were speaking to their CFO and other senior executives on a video call.

The problem is, everyone on the call was a deepfake. The money was wired to criminals, and now it’s gone.

What it means: Video and audio connections are no longer reliable.

We are at the very beginning of all of this – of the war on our eyes and ears, on our ability to discern the difference between what is real and what is fake.

Proof of Humanity and a global, immutable ledger are becoming civilizationally important.
