Following a large fire at Dibden Road, nearby residents are asked to keep window/doors closed and avoid handling ash/debris.
The site involved in the fire contained asbestos. While it is possible that asbestos-containing materials were released in the smoke and deposited as ash or debris in the surrounding area, the risk to health remains low.
Asbestos fibres are generally trapped within the material they were originally part of and are not easily released into the air.
If you urgently need to use your vehicle and you notice ash on it, dampen the debris and wear protective gloves to remove it.
We are arranging for tests to be done and will provide more guidance later today.
As Steve Plunkett couldn't make our annual awards night, he met Carrow white watch, DCFO Scott Norman & GM Emyr Gough so we could thank him. Steve won fundraiser of the year for the Carl Mills Memorial football match. It raised £26k, for @firefighters999@MindCharity & EAAA.
