@johnrich I don’t know if you have ever attended the D-Day Commemorations in Normandy, France, but I think you would truly enjoy seeing how the people there remember and commemorate the sacrifices our American “Greatest Generation” made for their liberation in WWII. It’s incredible. ♥️🇺🇸
Senior leaders from the Division in Bastogne, Belgium gathered at the graves of the “Angels of Bastogne” to honor their legacy and heroism. Without the work of the angels, many more American lives would have been lost. #Bastogne80#airassault
❄️80 years ago, in the frozen forests of the Ardennes, the 101st Airborne Division stood their ground at Bastogne.
Against overwhelming odds, with limited supplies, and in unimaginable conditions, they held the line.

History lesson time! 🎉
Elisha Mitchell announced the highest peak in the eastern US was found in the Black Mountain range of NC in 1835. Thomas Clingman disagreed in the 1850s.
To verify his initial findings, Mitchell returned to the Black Mountains. Sadly, he fell to his death while out on his mission to set the record straight. 🥺
The date? June 27, 1857.
Initially buried in Asheville, Mitchell was disinterred and his body was moved to the peak of the mountain he claimed was the tallest. 🪦
In 1881, the US Geological Survey proved Mitchell was correct all along. 💯
The mountain? Mount Mitchell. 😉
