BREAKING: NUTS! The Republican chair of the Georgia Peanut Commission endorses Sen. Jon Ossoff against his MAGA opponent in a stunning midterms upset.

And his reason why is especially powerful...

“We don’t necessarily elect a party. I like to support people that I can get behind and believe in," said Chairman Donald Chase.

The Georgia Peanut Commission is run by five board members, all of whom are elected, and it focuses on promotion, research, and education connected to the state's booming peanut industry. Last year, Georgia produced 51% of this country's peanut crop.

This endorsement marks just the latest prominent Republican to buck their party to support Ossoff, following the examples set by Mayors Scott James Matheson of Valdosta and Julie Smith of Tifton.

Chase pointed specifically to Ossoff's efforts to defend UNICEF funding on the grounds that it provided peanut-based foods to starving children overseas. Trump ultimately succeeded in gutting the funding, marking just one of many instances where this President directly contributed to the deaths of children. Chase commended Ossoff for putting up a fight against the administration.

“He stood up and said, ‘This is not appropriate.’ I like people who will stand up for the things that I believe we, as Georgians, support," said Chase, who is a lifelong Republican.

In other words, this endorsement comes down to morality. Under Donald Trump, the Republican Party has become a cruel, fascistic criminal organization that deserves to be soundly repudiated at the ballot box. Anyone with a working conscience at this point needs to vote blue!

Byron Donalds had nothing but Donald Trump. He was one of Trump’s most feckless surrogates and a staunch defender of Trump during his criminal prosecutions.
