@DrHelenFry Our grandad, Cpl Horace Defew, Sword Beach. His role was in the Beach Ordnance group. Years later my brother is quietly confident that he saw grandad in the corner of a photo of Sword Beach which hangs on the wall at the MOD in Whitehall where used to work on one posting.

The wood is full of garlic mustard at the moment. Looks lovely I think but it’s a pretty invasive biennial.
