@ColorTheBooks@StilbruchGames Putting the right product in front of the right audience out of the gate is a fantastic idea. The more the devs sells, the more Steam makes... and let's face it that's really what's it's all about when it comes it being on the platform! You make $, they make $.
Something worth mentioning regarding the new Steam update:
The real power behind the new personal calendar tool is the fact that it's not *just* a forward facing timeline.
Before, with the Popular Upcoming list, many indie games appeared and vanished in a matter of hours. Lost from anyone's memory. I can recall multiple times I saw a game that looked cool on that list, said I'd check it out later, only to come back to the list and be unable to find it. I couldn't remember the name, barely remembered the capsule art. It was just gone.
The personal calendar widget on the front page fixes that by showing games that ALSO released *yesterday* as well as new games for today, tomorrow, etc. This removes the time crisis that shoppers may feel to "look at everything before it's gone" and gives games even MORE visibility to casual shoppers. In fact, if shoppers want, they can scroll backwards and see games that released a whole month ago - all right there on the steam front page!
I said it when the update dropped and I'll say it again: this update is a huge win for indies.

I'm sorry guys but I just gotta share.
It is SO FKIN COOL to see my game trailer hosted on IGN's website, man.
I grew up obsessed with game pubs like IGN and Gamespot. Watched G4 TV all day every day. They were my ride or die sources for all things video games! So to have something of my very own up there for the world to see, even if only a few eyes come across it, is still such a surreal experience.
I've worked on a ton of games during my career as a developer, but this is the first thing that is really, truly mine (which is terrifying in and of itself!)
And it's this moment that makes me feel like this indie dev thing might just be real.
