A good well rounded article from @BBCNews. Great to see the majority of firms are guided by logic in supporting the #NWRR.
Enough stifling of regional business/commerce and future prospects. Letโs get on with it now.
Positives outweigh the negatives ๐
@EaNasir@shdcouncil @DC4Battlefield @Mandie_Lee_@ShropCouncil @RoadToRuinShrop โONLYโ 65% - ๐. What?
So your solution to not being part of a majority is to support thoughtless and angry activist camps?
Do you not think youโre starting to sound a little unreasonable @EaNasir?
@EaNasir @build_road @BBCNews 3/ The idea behind the road is not just to destroy habitat. It unfortunately is of great economic value, which we are currently in dire need of. There are green values such as rerouting traffic out of town. Two birds one stone. It makes sense, unless there is another idea?

@EaNasir @build_road @BBCNews 2/ that being said major national infrastructure is a necessary part of our current economy and way of life. It absolutely needs change but that isnโt going to happen overnight. Economy is needed to progress way of life and technology which in turn helps with our speciesโ crisis.
@EaNasir @build_road @BBCNews 1/ It does make sense to us. I sympathise with it. However it is a deeper point which lies in central governments form of governance. I suspect there are complex budgets and some sound reasoning behind the rules of funding for major national infrastructure. I do not know for sure
@Mandie_Lee_ @DC4Battlefield @ShropCouncil@Mandie_Lee_ so what youโre suggesting is that we shouldnโt build the road because 4500 people donโt want it, but we should charge everyone to use the already existing roads accross the UK?
@Mandie_Lee_ @DC4Battlefield @ShropCouncil Introducing road pricing and scrapping infrastructural investment is not sound economic policy.
With rising costs there needs to be regional investment to create jobs, thereby increasing productivity and wage growth in order to balance said cost rises.
#NWRR is necessary.
@RoadToRuinShrop A balanced and fair article. Effectively highlights that there is a silent majority guided by common sense, with the best interests for the #shropshire region at heart. Well done @ShropsChamber ๐.
@RoadToRuinShrop @GreenEmmaB @DC4Battlefield @lezley4tern@ShrewsburyTC @ZeroCarbonShro1 This is not an accurate or sound use of mathematics to go off for the future.
Fantastic that Birmingham is looking to become a low-traffic neighbourhood. Absolutely the way to go.
But how did they do it..?
Oh yes, same story - a completed ring road.
#shrewsbury could follow suit by also rerouting the current traffic out of town with a completed #NWRR.
My @guardian article now has a graphic showing how Birmingham will soon become one big low-traffic neighbourhood. And goal is to massively reduce motoring far into the suburbs, too. https://t.co/TWw7CGKYXV
@barrie85 @nickshrews @GreenEmmaB @mrrobwilson @lezley4tern@stevecharmley Pedestrianising Shrewsbury was never going to be an easy task, I agree. Surely the simplist, most efficient/effective route (whilst also bringing in a great number of economic #benefits, is the #NWRR.
I definitely agree though - there was always going to uproar whatever plan was
