.@townsendoutdoor Thank you all for your support on twitter so far. It has helped enormously to highlight concern about the planned commercial rocket facility at Scolpaig. Protected species and areas under EU law could be negatively impacted.

@AileenMcLeodSNP @scotgp
Please stop the Council from approving its OWN plans for a commercial rocket launch facility at Scolpaig. No EIA and no independent phase 1 habitat survey, Councillor has shares in the space company. @scotgov and Council are breaching EU environment law
.@townsendoutdoor @scotgov@scotgp @AileenMcLeodSNP
@GeorgeMonbiot
Please read this. Council claim no EIA required as applying piecemeal to themselves for planning.SEPA criticised Council and say Scot Gov Regs (1/2017) are being contradicted as overall size means EIA required.
@LochSave @JohnFinnieHI They are applying piecemeal for planning having amended their original plans so the size is under that of a major development. The SEPA report is damning about this attempt to frustrate the Scottish planning directive by “salami slicing”. Still EU law demands appropriate surveys
.@JohnFinnieHI Please help us to stop the Council approving its own plans for a commercial space rocket facility at Scolpaig. No EIA, no phase 1 habitat survey, breaking EU environment law as close to protected sites.We see you signed up to #FightForScotlandsNature Please act now
.@Feorlean As species champion for Corncrakes please help us stop CnES approving its own plans for a commercial rocket launch facility at Scolpaig. No EIA or phase 1 habitat survey has been done, breaking EU environment laws as close to protected sites. Corncrakes breed here.
@JohnFinnieHI Please help to stop CnES approving their own plans for a commercial rocket facility at Scolpaig. No EIA or phase 1 habitat survey. This is against EU environment law. We see you have signed up to #fightforscotlandsnature , please act now.#nature#wildlifecrime

@maggieuibhist Where did she settle after being on the Monach Isles? I was just trying to get the link for the bbc alba documentary which Angus was in in case anyone was interested but it says the episode isn’t available, hopefully they will repeat it.
It’s also within a Marine Protected Area and home to grey seals and many nesting seabirds. We were lucky to hear some stories about the Monachs from the last man born on the islands, sadly no longer with us, what an amazing place to grow up.
Looking forward to hearing more about the bird surveys on St .Kilda. If anyone hasnt been yet it’s well worth going. The sheer number of Gannets flying around you is a real sight as the stacks loom above you. Hirts is beautiful and you can only begin to imagine how life was there
@maggieuibhist @LesleyRiddoch There is always hope, is this another case of needing a more positive story for the future.The Western Isles has so much going for it now. I think sometimes communities see that before those in “power”. Eventually they might realise if we keep asking it of them??.... maybe?..
@ASPaton@ScotGovFM Thank goodness the National Trust have objected, we have to keep holding the Sottish Government to account. Eventually they might realise they only have one Scotland and they need to look after it.
