The Norwalk Police Department is investigating a motor vehicle accident in the area of Fort Point Street and Osborne Avenue.
The area is currently closed to all traffic. Please avoid the area and use alternate routes until further notice.
The investigation into the accident remains active and ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has information, video, or other evidence related to this incident is asked to contact the Norwalk Police Department.
Single Motor Vehicle Accident on Connecticut Avenue Under Investigation
On Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 5:08 pm, Norwalk Police Department patrol officers were dispatched to 59 Connecticut Avenue following multiple reports of a serious accident.
Responding officers located a red Jeep Cherokee involved in a single-vehicle collision.
The Norwalk Police Department's Crash Reconstruction Unit and Identification Unit responded to process the scene and assume the investigation.
The Norwalk Police Department is investigating a serious motor vehicle accident in the area of 59 Connecticut Ave.
Connecticut Avenue is currently closed between Stuart Avenue and Van Buren Avenue. We ask the public to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
The Norwalk Police Department continues to seek information that may lead to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for this double homicide.

The Norwalk Police Department is actively working an incident involving a train behind the area of 345 Main Avenue. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available. We ask the public to please avoid the area and use alternate routes.

• No through traffic on the south side of the East Norwalk Train Station through 8/3.
• Local access is available via Winfield Street and Rowan Street, but there is no through traffic near the west end of the platform.

🚉 East Norwalk Train Station
• The station will be closed in both directions from Saturday, 8/1 through Sunday, 8/2.
• Service will resume in time for the Monday morning commute.
Officers detained multiple individuals at the scene and arrested Danny Reyes after finding him in possession of a Kahr .45-caliber handgun. The stabbing suspect, Lester Escobar-Ayala, was later identified and arrested behind the mall on Crescent St.
On July 27, 2026, at 7:06 p.m., Patrol officers responded to a reported assault near 100 N. Water St., where a 20-year-old man had been stabbed. The victim was treated and transported to Norwalk Hospital.
The investigation determined that an altercation occurred between a moped operator and four pedestrians near The SoNo Collection. During the fight, one suspect stabbed the victim in the right arm with a sharp object.
