Norwich City Council has activated SWEP as part of ongoing efforts to support vulnerable people sleeping rough. Pathways Outreach teams, alongside colleagues from Norwich City Council, continue to respond to individuals requiring assistance and are distributing packs containing essential supplies to help people stay safe during the hot weather. We will continue to monitor temperatures and review the SWEP activation.

Norwich has welcomed a new Lord Mayor and Sheriff following this week’s full council meeting at City Hall.
Cllr Karen Davis has been appointed Lord Mayor for 2026 to 2027, with Dave Shraga becoming the new Sheriff of Norwich. Cllr Gary Champion will serve as Deputy Lord Mayor.
Karen Davis, councillor for Town Close since 2016 and founder of the Bread and Roses community café, said it was “an immense honour” to represent Norwich.
Dave Shraga, director of Grippitz and chairperson of Inclusive Norwich, said he was “incredibly proud and honoured” to take on the role of Sheriff.
The ceremonial roles support local charities, attend civic events and act as ambassadors for the city.
